Job description

Pottery Barn is seeking a Manager, Editorial to help shape how our brand comes to life through words. In this role, you will lead the development of compelling editorial and copy that brings clarity, warmth, and inspiration to every customer touchpoint. Working across marketing channels, you will help define and elevate Pottery Barn's voice-translating our point of view on home and design into storytelling that resonates with customers. From seasonal campaigns to product narratives, you will ensure our voice is authentic, engaging, and consistent, while inspiring customers to create homes they love. This role is ideal for a strong storyteller with a passion for interiors and design. You are comfortable contributing to campaign concepts as well as crafting thoughtful, polished copy, with the ability to guide and elevate the work of others. Reporting to the Vice President, Creative Services, you will manage a small team of writers while partnering closely with teams across Creative, Merchandising, Marketing, and E-commerce to bring integrated storytelling to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead copy development across channels-including site, email, social, paid media, catalog, and retail signage-ensuring work is on brand, on time, and aligned with business goals

  • Contribute to editorial direction for seasonal campaigns and integrated marketing initiatives

  • Translate seasonal strategies and the Head of Product Design's vision into compelling editorial that highlights the beauty and functionality of our products

  • Manage and mentor a small team of writers and freelance contributors, supporting high-quality execution

  • Partner with Brand Marketing and Merchandising to develop product storytelling across categories

  • Collaborate with E-commerce to ensure digital copy is clear, engaging, and optimized across platforms

  • Help maintain and evolve Pottery Barn's brand voice across channels

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support creative briefs and ensure alignment from concept through execution

  • Develop and maintain brand voice standards

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of experience in editorial, copywriting, or content development across multiple channels

  • Experience developing copy for both brand storytelling and performance marketing

  • Strong understanding of brand voice and how to translate it across formats and platforms

  • Experience managing or mentoring writers

  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with strong attention to detail

  • Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with designers, art directors, marketers, and cross-functional partners

  • Passion for home decor, interiors, and design trends

  • Familiarity with Figma and Airtable is a plus

  • Ability to work onsite in San Francisco Monday-Thursday

The expected starting pay range for this position is $125,000 - $130,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets.
