Job description

Job Title: Laundry Supervisor

Division/Department: Rail Events Production/Run Crew

Reports To: Production Wardrobe Supervisor /Production Management

Type of position: Non-Exempt/Hourly 

Employee Classification: Seasonal 

Location: Perris, CA

Compensation: $26/hr

Job Summary: The Laundry Supervisor works with the Production Wardrobe Supervisor, along with local department supervisors and on-site management during the run of the show to maintain laundered items. They oversee the care of costumes, linens, and other textiles, ensuring they are clean, dry, and properly stored. This role involves inspecting and making minor repairs to costumes, operating laundry equipment including irons and steamers, sorting items, handling stains, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of laundered pieces. They work under the supervision of the Production Wardrobe Supervisor, Production Managers, and Stage Managers. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the production team to ensure laundry needs are met for Wardrobe, Catering, Props/Decor, and Front of House.
  • Assist Wardrobe team with load in and organization of all wardrobe supplies.
  • Responsible for daily laundry and stain removal.
  • Help maintain costume quality by inspecting and overseeing minor repairs to costume pieces.
  • Sort laundry by department, fabric type, color,and washing instructions, and pre-treat stains before washing.
  • Operate washing machines, dryers, or other equipment, following safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions.
  • Laundry attendants load and unload laundry machines, adjust settings, and monitor cycles to ensure items are properly cleaned and dried.
  • Track laundry supplies and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed.
  • Work with the production staff during load out to see that the event space is returned to the railroad appropriately.
  • Become familiar with company policies regarding safety.
  • Work with the entire event team to maintain a positive, enjoyable, and rewarding environment for all staff and passengers.

Education, Skills, Work Experience Requirements:
  • Experience as a laundry attendant, wardrobe supervisor and/or seamstress/tailor
  • This role requires attention to detail to ensure items are properly sorted, cleaned, and cared for
  • Understanding different fabrics, stain removal techniques, and laundry equipment operation
  • Demonstrate ability to anticipate, recognize and solve practical problems and resolve issues
 
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form
  • Experience sewing (hand stitching and machine) and general clothing repair and maintenance
  • Have good DIY, and repair skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to work alongside the production staff as a team member in an ever-changing environment to meet laundry needs
  • Ability to work independently with self-motivation as well as excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams that can include seasonal employees and interns
