Job description

Job Description Centralized Intake (CI) is an essential unit that is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and functions as a processing center for reports of suspected abuse and neglect for both children and adults for the entire state of Michigan covering all 83 counties. The physical location for our Centralized Intake Units are in Wayne County and Kent County. These internship opportunities will be in one of the two locations and will be in person.

Intern responsibilities for the MDHHS Centralized Intake Unit will include, but are not limited to assisting with the management and distribution of online complaints, law enforcement notifications, and other administrative support tasks. Additional duties may include data entry, monitoring shared inboxes and work queues, maintaining organized records, and assisting staff with daily administrative functions. The MDHHS mission is to provide opportunities, services, and programs that promote a healthy, safe, and stable environment for residents to be self-sufficient.

Required Education and Experience At the time of internship, you must be enrolled at an accredited university pursuing an associates/bachelors/masters degree in any major. Additional Requirements and Information The information below is required. Please read thoroughly.

Attach a cover letter that includes the responses to the following questions: What qualities or attributes will you bring to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. What are your career interests, goals, and plans. Be specific.

What do you expect to gain from this internship experience. Attach a resume, list of three references, and a copy of your official or unofficial transcripts. You will be subject to an MDHHS background check and, if selected to move forward in the process, will be required to provide a copy of your driver license and social security card.

If an Affiliation Agreement is required by your university, you must ensure there is one in place or that your university initiates the process prior to starting your internship. Affiliation Agreements are legal documents that can take 3 months or longer to complete. Failure to attach any of the above may result in your application being screened out.
