Job description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direct clinical nutrition care to patients according to established guidelines. Maintains pertinent patient data as necessary and recommends therapeutic diets as needed to meet the nutritional needs of the patients. Documents all relevant aspects in accordance with departmental standards. Reviews, updates and coordinates patient nutritional care and protocol implementation through continuing education and ongoing communications with other interdisciplinary staff. Attends health care team meetings to discuss patient care needs.
Serves as an education resource within the Nutrition Services department and for nurses, Physicians/providers, and other medical professionals as related to clinical nutrition issues. Works as a clinical nutrition liaison with medical and allied health professionals to develop and expand services and programs. Serves as a clinical preceptor for dietetic interns and other students.
Attends and participates in meetings as required. Participates in the Performance Improvement (PI) process. Maintains departmental records, reports and files as required.
Performs related work tasks as assigned by the Chief Clinical Dietitian.
Adheres to HACCP and ISDH sanitation standards.
Maintains department records, reports, and files as required by law and Johnson Memorial Health.
Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Must be a Registered Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association/Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, Certified as a Dietitian by the State of Indiana.
