Principal Scientist - Rubber & Tire Technologies
Location: Macon, GA
Department: Research & Technology (R&T)
Reports To: Director or VP of Research & Technology

Lead Innovation in Rubber & Tire Performance Solutions
Arclin is seeking an accomplished Principal Scientist to drive innovation, product development, and commercialization efforts within our Rubber & Tire Technologies business. This highly visible technical leadership role will focus on advancing Arclin's portfolio of specialty performance products, including anti-tack agents, homogenizing agents, release agents, dispersions, colloidal chemistry solutions, and other technologies serving the rubber and tire manufacturing industries.
The ideal candidate is a recognized technical expert with a proven record of developing and commercializing innovative products, leading cross-functional programs, and translating scientific insights into commercially successful solutions.
This is an opportunity to shape the future of rubber processing technologies while influencing business strategy, intellectual property development, and next-generation product platforms.
Drive Product Innovation & Commercialization
  • Lead development, optimization, and commercialization of new products serving the rubber and tire industry.
  • Identify and champion technology opportunities that strengthen existing product lines and enable expansion into new markets.
  • Advance next-generation solutions in anti-tack agents, homogenizing agents, release agents, colloidal chemistry technologies, and specialty process aids.
  • Translate customer, market, and technical requirements into commercially viable products and technologies.

Provide Strategic Technical Leadership
  • Serve as a key technical authority across product platforms and applications.
  • Contribute to long-term business and technology strategy planning.
  • Partner with commercial, operations, manufacturing, procurement, regulatory, and leadership teams.
  • Represent Arclin within industry associations and technical forums.

Lead Research Excellence
  • Design and execute research programs involving formulation development, characterization, process optimization, and performance evaluation.
  • Utilize experimental design and statistical methods to accelerate innovation.
  • Guide multiple projects from concept through commercialization.
  • Solve challenging technical problems through science and business insight.

Build Technical Capability
  • Mentor scientists, engineers, and technical professionals.
  • Develop and document technical knowledge and capabilities.
  • Deliver technical training and serve as SME.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY:
  • Lead invention, patent, trade secret, and IP development activities.
  • Develop IP strategies supporting technology platforms.
  • Create proprietary solutions that deliver sustainable competitive advantages.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
  • Rubber compounding and processing
  • Tire manufacturing technologies
  • Latex and colloidal chemistry

EXPERIENCE:
  • Proven track record of leading successful product development and commercialization programs.
  • Demonstrated impact through development of commercially successful technologies or products.
  • Experience guiding cross-functional teams and influencing business strategy.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • History of mentoring, training, and knowledge transfer.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical discipline.

Preferred Education & Experience:
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field.
