Join our colleagues in bringing our Mission to life every single day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world's toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.
Discover Impactful Work
Join our Manufacturing Process Engineering team in Greenville, North Carolina, where you will provide hands-on engineering support for a sterile filling manufacturing operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with manufacturing equipment and processes, and seeing the immediate impact of their work. You will help keep production running safely and effectively while also supporting engineering projects that improve existing processes and bring new equipment and capabilities into the facility.
You will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and collaborate with colleagues across Production, Maintenance, Quality, Technical Services, MSAT and other engineering functions. The role offers exposure to both day-to-day manufacturing support and larger engineering and capital projects, providing an excellent foundation for continued growth in pharmaceutical manufacturing and engineering.
A Day in the Life
No two days will look exactly the same. You may begin the day troubleshooting a production issue and later shift your attention to an equipment upgrade or capital project.
You will:
- Provide day-to-day technical and engineering support for sterile filling manufacturing operations, helping maintain reliable production and resolve equipment or process issues.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing problems, evaluate potential causes and develop practical, sustainable solutions.
- Partner closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Technical Services, MSAT and other functions to investigate and resolve technical issues.
- Support deviations and other manufacturing investigations by applying logical, thorough problem-solving techniques.
- Execute engineering projects involving manufacturing processes, equipment, utilities and production-line improvements.
- Support the introduction of new equipment and capital investments (CapEx) based on operational and customer needs.
- Participate in equipment acceptance and implementation activities, which may include Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning and qualification support.
- Develop and maintain appropriate engineering documentation while working within site quality and change-control requirements.
- Balance immediate manufacturing priorities with longer-term engineering projects in a dynamic production environment.
- Build technical knowledge of sterile manufacturing processes and equipment while working alongside experienced engineers and cross-functional partners.
Keys to Success
You will thrive in this role if you are technically curious, enjoy being close to the manufacturing floor and can remain organized and thoughtful when priorities change quickly.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline completed or expected by May 2027, with relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant technical/manufacturing experience.
Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing or related engineering disciplines may be particularly relevant to this opportunity.
Experience
- Relevant engineering, manufacturing or technical experience; experience gained through internships, co-op assignments or other hands-on technical roles will be considered.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, production, laboratory or similarly technical environment is preferred.
- Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, sterile manufacturing or other regulated-industry experience is helpful but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand manufacturing processes, equipment and systems.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to work through technical issues logically and thoroughly.
- Ability to prioritize and respond effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with colleagues across engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, quality and technical functions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new processes, equipment and technologies quickly.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, including immediate production needs and longer-term engineering projects.
- Comfortable working in an onsite manufacturing environment and complying with applicable safety, PPE and gowning requirements.
- Proficiency with standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to work occasional off-shift hours, overtime or weekends when needed to support manufacturing operations and project activities.
