Position Summary
Penfield Children’s Center supports the health development of young children by providing early, evidence-based interventions for families navigating developmental and behavioral concerns. As part of expanding services for children 0-6, Penfield is seeking a Contract Neuropsychologist specializing in early childhood autism
In this role, you will conduct comprehensive neuropsychological and developmental assessments for young children, provide clear diagnostic impressions, and offer guidance that helps families understand next steps and access the right supports. Penfield’s interdisciplinary model means you’ll collaborate closely with early intervention professionals, therapists, and medical partners to ensure each child and family receives holistic, familycentered care.
This contract opportunity is ideal for clinicians who are passionate about early childhood development, neurodiversity, and supporting families during pivotal moments. Successful candidates will be:

Experienced with accurate and compliant documentation practices, including familiarity with billing requirements for neuropsychological and developmental assessments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Able to provide strategic clinical expertise to help design, launch, and refine Penfield’s early childhood neuropsychology program, including establishing bestpractice workflows, assessment protocols, and referral pathways.
Provide comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for clients age 0-6, in collaboration with their families and/or other collateral sources
Interpret a wide variety of psychological and neuropsychological test batteries, with occasional direct test administration
Serve as a subject matter expert in the use and interpretation of neuropsychological assessments
Provide clinical oversight and consultation to psychometrists involved in neuropsychological testing to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.
Complete detailed neuropsychological evaluation reports and prepare separate brief summary documents tailored for clients, families, and referring providers
Conduct clear, supportive feedback sessions to explain findings, diagnoses, and personalized recommendations
Collaborate with the patient’s care team to inform and coordinate treatment planning
Provide neuropsychological evaluation services through in-person and virtual sessions with patients and their families as appropriate.
Doctorate degree in Psychology from an American Psychological Association accredited program
An equivalent combination of experience, supervision, or training will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Licensed or license eligible in the State of Wisconsin
Experience conducting testing virtually and in person
Familiarity with online web-based applications
Effective therapeutic communication skills
Able to deliver care virtually or in person and within your own office space
One-year predoctoral internship with specialization in neuropsychology preferred
Two-year postdoctoral fellowship with specialization in neuropsychology preferred
PSYPACT authorized or PSYPACT eligible preferred
Expertise in early childhood development and neurodevelopmental disorders, with strong command of autism assessment and DSM5 criteria for ages 0–6.
Proficiency with standardized neuropsychological and developmental assessment tools (e.g., ADOS2, Bayley, Vineland, Mullen, WPPSI).
Understanding of clinical documentation, compliance, and billing requirements related to neuropsychological and developmental evaluations.
Strong ability to conduct comprehensive evaluations and interpret complex developmental profiles in very young children.
Excellent communication skills for delivering diagnostic findings clearly and compassionately to families and interdisciplinary teams.
Effective organizational and timemanagement skills, including timely documentation and coordination with multiple providers.
Ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary, familycentered care model while also working independently.
Ability to adapt engagement and assessment strategies to meet the developmental and behavioral needs of children ages 0–6.
Ability to contribute clinical expertise to provide clinical expertise to support the design, launch, and refinement of Penfield’s early childhood neuropsychology program, including establishing best-practice workflows, assessment protocols, and referral pathways.
Individuals providing services in this role must meet Penfield Children’s Center’s backgrounds screening and safety requirements.
Ability to sit for extended periods while conducting evaluations and documentation
Ability to move between clinical spaces within the facility
Ability to use computers and assessment tools for extended periods
