Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Medical Billing and Coding Instructor to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality education and training to students in the field of medical billing and coding. This role involves preparing students for certification exams, equipping them with the necessary skills to manage medical billing processes, coding diagnoses and procedures, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach medical billing and coding courses, including healthcare terminology, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding systems, insurance claims, reimbursement processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Instructional Methods: Utilize a variety of instructional techniques to accommodate different learning styles, including lectures, hands-on practice, real-world case studies, and interactive group activities.
  • Student Assessment: Evaluate student progress through quizzes, exams, and practical coding exercises. Provide constructive feedback and support to ensure successful learning outcomes.
  • Certification Preparation: Prepare students for certification exams such as the CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCA (Certified Coding Associate), and other relevant credentials in the field.
  • Lesson Planning: Develop lesson plans, course materials, and assignments that align with curriculum standards and industry best practices.
  • Maintain Industry Knowledge: Stay current with changes in medical billing and coding regulations, guidelines, and coding systems (e.g., ICD-10, CPT) to ensure up-to-date instruction.
  • Student Support: Provide mentorship and academic support to students, helping them navigate challenges, build confidence, and achieve career readiness.
  • Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and progress reports. Adhere to institutional policies and procedures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other faculty members and staff to create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications:
  • Medical Billing and Coding certification required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in medical billing, coding, or healthcare reimbursement.
  • Previous teaching or training experience in a classroom or online setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, and coding standards (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and medical billing/coding software.
  • BPSS teaching permit or license preferred

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with e-learning platforms or blended learning models.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with the latest industry trends, regulations, and certification exam updates
