We are a family-run, multi-brand company with a fast-moving seasonal business and a high standard for service, quality, safety, and follow-through. Our purpose is to "Teach the World to Fly".
We are hiring an energetic, highly organized Events Coordinator to help plan and deliver Kitty Hawk Kites events, community activations, sponsorship programs, Kids Days, and in-store experiences. This is a hands-on role that combines advance coordination with on-site execution-from preparing materials and confirming logistics through setup, guest engagement, troubleshooting, and teardown.
Reporting to the Events Manager, you will coordinate event details across the Marketing, Retail, Recreation, Warehouse, and Operations teams; support seasonal Events Team Members and interns; and help ensure every activation is safe, organized, on brand, and welcoming. This is a full-time seasonal position.
Our business
  • Ecommerce: a Shopify business serving customers nationwide with kites, gear, apparel, and other products.
  • Recreation and tours: bookable Outer Banks adventures, including hang gliding, watersports, boat and jet ski rentals, dolphin tours, kayak tours, kiteboarding, parasailing, and fishing experiences.
  • Retail stores: 30+ destination locations where guests browse, book, and buy across Kitty Hawk Kites and its family of brands.
What you will do
  • Coordinate event work plans, schedules, checklists, staffing needs, materials, equipment, transportation, setup, breakdown, and day-of logistics for company-hosted and community events.
  • Support activations including festivals, Kids Days, sponsorship events, retail promotions, community partnerships, and other guest-facing programs across Kitty Hawk Kites locations.
  • Maintain accurate event records, assignments, due dates, status updates, and follow-up in Monday.com; flag missing information, schedule conflicts, supply needs, and risks before they affect execution.
  • Coordinate with Marketing, Creative, Social Media, Retail, Recreation, Warehouse, and Operations teams to confirm event messaging, signage, promotional materials, demonstrations, giveaways, and content-capture needs.
  • Prepare, organize, distribute, and reconcile event materials and inventory, including tents, tables, signage, flyers, rack cards, adventure guides, promotional items, demonstration products, and safety supplies.
  • Provide day-of direction and support to seasonal Events Team Members, interns, volunteers, and participating store teams; communicate assignments clearly and escalate operational or safety concerns promptly.
  • Create a friendly, engaging, and brand-aligned guest experience; answer questions, direct guests to relevant Kitty Hawk Kites offerings, distribute materials, and support lead or participation tracking when applicable.
  • Conduct pre-event and post-event inventory checks, confirm demonstration products and equipment are working, and coordinate warehouse storage, replenishment, transport, and return of event supplies.
  • Complete timely post-event recaps documenting attendance or engagement, guest feedback, photos and content captured, operational issues, results, expenses, lessons learned, and recommended follow-up.
What you bring
  • 1 + years of experience in events, hospitality, tourism, recreation, retail, marketing coordination, community programming, or another guest-experience-driven environment; relevant internship or seasonal leadership experience may be considered.
  • Strong organization, communication, follow-through, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and stay calm when event-day conditions change.
  • Comfort taking initiative, working across departments, and providing clear day-of direction to seasonal team members, interns, volunteers, vendors, and partners.
  • Working knowledge of Monday.com or a similar project-management platform, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, spreadsheets, shared files, and basic event reporting is preferred.
  • A guest-first, safety-conscious mindset and willingness to perform hands-on work, including setup, teardown, materials distribution, inventory organization, and outdoor event support.
  • Able to work on-site in Nags Head, travel to Kitty Hawk Kites locations and event sites, and work a flexible schedule that includes early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak-season dates as required. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
Physical requirements
  • Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods and work indoors and outdoors in variable weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or move event materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to load and unload supplies, bend, reach, climb, and assist with tents, tables, signage, and other event equipment.
Pay and benefits
  • This is a seasonal, full-time position. Compensation will be based on experience and the approved hourly pay range.
Apply through Indeed with a resume and a brief note describing an event, activation, or guest-facing program you helped coordinate successfully.
