Summary

SRP is seeking a motivated College Intern to support our teams while gaining handson experience in a collaborative, missiondriven environment. This internship offers students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to realworld projects that support SRP's commitment to delivering reliable, sustainable water and power services. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful work, and develop technical and professional skills relevant to their field of study. The role is designed to foster learning, teamwork, and innovation while providing exposure to SRP's operations and culture. This is an excellent opportunity for students who are eager to learn, grow, and make an impact while exploring a future career with SRP. 

The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department's needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum.

The Database Services team's mission is to provide enterprise database support for Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and PostgreSQL.  This position will assist the SQL Server team in supporting over 370 SQL Servers supporting 500+ applications used throughout the organization. 

What You'll Do

Assist the SQL database administrators in the following

  • Maintain database inventory information
  • Complete customer requests for SQL support (database refreshes, new databases/SQL servers, security changes, database archival, database backup/ restore, etc.)
  • Coordinate SQL patching work with 3rd party vendor and complete patching activities as needed
  • Review reports and remediate issues (backup failures, configuration/ compliance issues, low disk space, etc.)
  • Complete assigned project work (upgrade databases, build new reports/ scripts, implement DB standards, etc.)
Education
A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
Experience

Preferred knowledge and skills: 

  • Familiarity with Windows 11 desktop Operating System
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook
  • Familiarity with Windows Server 2019/ 2022/ 2025
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Familiarity with Powershell
  • Reporting and data analysis may be required on an as needed basis
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and shift focus based on changing priorities
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn processes and technology concepts
Additional Requirements and Qualifications
College level coursework (100 or higher) from an accredited institution is preferred. Management will evaluate college-level coursework individually to determine if it is applicable to the position and relevant to the required skills. Knowledge such as accounting, general administrative principles, communications, marketing, personnel, finance, training, business and other non-scientific fields.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
