Internship Opt Tech information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Internship Opt Tech, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Internship Opt Tech, you need foundational knowledge of eye anatomy, vision testing, and basic clinical procedures, often gained through coursework or relevant training. Familiarity with optometric instruments, electronic health records (EHRs), and lensometry tools is typically required. Strong attention to detail, customer service skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with patients and staff set exceptional candidates apart. These skills ensure accurate diagnostics, a positive patient experience, and effective support for optometrists in a clinical setting.

What types of projects or tasks can an Internship Opt Tech expect to work on during their internship?

As an Internship Opt Tech, you can expect to assist with a variety of tasks such as performing pre-testing procedures, supporting optometrists during eye exams, maintaining and calibrating ophthalmic equipment, and helping manage patient flow. Interns often gain hands-on experience with diagnostic instruments and may also assist with contact lens fittings or patient education. This role provides valuable exposure to the clinical workflow and an opportunity to collaborate closely with both optometrists and experienced technicians.

What is an Internship Opt Tech?

An Internship Opt Tech, or Optometric Technician Intern, is a student or recent graduate who is gaining hands-on experience in an optometry clinic or eye care setting. Their duties typically include assisting optometrists with eye exams, performing basic vision tests, preparing patients, maintaining equipment, and handling administrative tasks. This internship provides practical training for those interested in pursuing a career as an optometric technician or continuing their education in eye care. Interns learn valuable skills such as patient communication, use of optical instruments, and basic eye health assessment. The position is usually temporary and designed to complement classroom learning with real-world experience.

Job description

Do you want to change how the world creates?
At Formlabs, we're building the tools that make it possible for anyone to bring their ideas to life, from cutting-edge products to life-saving medical devices. Our 3D printing technology powers innovation at more than 50,000 industry leaders worldwide, including Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA. Together, we're helping everyone design, prototype, and manufacture faster than ever before.
We're a team of hands-on builders, engineers, and innovators reinventing how the world makes physical things. If you're ready to shape the future of fabrication, come build it with us.
Your Impact:
We're looking for a data-driven, creative-minded Paid Social Marketing Intern to help us scale our presence across platforms like Meta (Facebook/Instagram), TikTok, and LinkedIn. This is a hands-on role where you'll move beyond just "posting" and dive deep into the world of performance marketing, conversion tracking, and digital psychology.
Internship Term: Summer 2026 (June - August)
Commitment: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Location: Onsite in Somerville, MA (in-person)
What You'll Do:
  • Campaign Support: Assist in the setup, launching, and monitoring of paid social campaigns.
  • Creative Strategy: Work with the design team to brainstorm ad concepts based on current trends and top-performing "hook" styles.
  • Copywriting: Draft compelling ad copy tailored to different audiences and funnel stages (Awareness vs. Retargeting).
  • Reporting & Analysis: Pull weekly performance data to track KPIs like CTR (Click-Through Rate), ROAS (Return on Ad Spend), and CPA (Cost Per Acquisition).
  • A/B Testing: Help manage experiments on headlines, visuals, and landing pages to see what actually converts.

About You:
  • Digital Native: You live on social media and understand the nuances between a TikTok "vibe" and a LinkedIn "professional insight."
  • Analytical Mindset: You aren't afraid of spreadsheets. You enjoy looking at numbers to find the "why" behind the performance.
  • Excellent Writing: You can write punchy, persuasive copy that stops the scroll.
  • Curiosity: A strong desire to learn how algorithms work and stay ahead of the ever-changing privacy landscape (like iOS changes).

Intern Benefits & Perks:
  • Flexible Out of Office Plan - take time when you need it
  • Salaried bi-weekly pay schedule
  • Ample on-site parking & pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Catered on-site lunches (3x per week), snacks, beverages, & treats
  • Cohort-based social and professional development experience for interns
  • Many opt-in culture events across our diverse community
  • And of course... unlimited 3D prints

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
Even if you don't check every box, but see yourself contributing, please apply. Help us build an inclusive community that will change the face of 3D printing.
Compensation
Interns at Formlabs are paid on a bi-weekly pay schedule. The pay range for this role will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location and expected impact on the organization. This is a salaried role, so you will always be paid based on the assumed 40 hours per week as a full-time intern. This position does not offer housing or relocation assistance.
The bi-weekly pay range for this role is:
$1,200-$1,500 USD
