Job description

The Operations Intern role provides hands-on exposure to field-based career opportunities within the energy technology industry. Through this internship, students gain valuable insight into SLB's operations, its role in the industry, and the unique and rewarding lifestyle associated with working in the field.

An internship at SLB is an opportunity to experience our culture, understand how we work, and determine whether a career in operations is the right fit for you. It is also your chance to demonstrate the skills, adaptability, and attitude needed to succeed in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Our paid summer internships typically last 10 to 12 weeks and provide meaningful opportunities to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects. Interns work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to business objectives, and gain exposure to the technologies and operations that drive our industry.

Operations internships offer the best way to experience life in the field firsthand. Many assignments take place in demanding environments where challenging conditions, fast-paced operations, and problem-solving are part of everyday work. While the work can be demanding, it is also highly rewarding for individuals who enjoy hands-on experiences, thrive in dynamic settings, and are motivated by continuous learning.

During the internship, you will:

  • Work in field operations roles for a minimum of 14 days.
  • Gain foundational knowledge of the energy technology industry and SLB operations.
  • Participate in live projects at active operational sites.
  • Develop technical, operational, and professional skills through structured learning experiences.
  • Follow designated internship objectives and development plans throughout the program.
  • Collaborate with experienced professionals and learn how field operations support customer success.

While opportunities for technically trained professionals are extensive, operations careers require a unique combination of technical aptitude, adaptability, initiative, and a commitment to safety. This internship allows both the candidate and SLB to assess long-term fit before pursuing full-time employment opportunities.

To be eligible for a OperationsInternship, candidates must have completed their sophomore year of an undergraduate degree in Engineering or a related science field and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application.
