About the job you're considering
The AIFirst Junior Engineer is an earlycareer software engineer who develops, tests, modernizes, and supports software systems in an AIaugmented delivery environment. This role leverages AI tools as a default assistant while building strong foundations in software design, quality, security, and production discipline.
Operating within a humanontheloop model, the engineer learns to apply sound judgment, identify risks, and escalate appropriately-ensuring AI accelerates productivity without compromising accountability.
Your Role
AIAugmented Engineering Execution
  • Use AI tools to assist with coding, refactoring, unit testing, and documentation
  • Follow approved AI usage standards, policies, and guardrails
  • Learn when to accept AI recommendations and when to seek review from senior engineers
 
Software Development & Modernization
  • Implement welldefined features and enhancements under guidance
  • Assist in modernizing existing applications through refactoring and API updates
  • Ensure all changes meet quality, security, and compliance standards
 
Production Support & Learning
  • Participate in structured production support rotations
  • Use AIassisted diagnostics to investigate and analyze incidents
  • Apply fixes (reviewed by senior engineers) to reduce recurring issues
 
Quality, Security & Engineering Discipline
  • Adhere to coding standards and AIassisted quality gates within CI/CD pipelines
  • Participate in peer code reviews and release readiness activities
  • Ensure traceability and observability requirements are met
 
Collaboration & Skill Development
  • Work collaboratively within an AIenabled POD
  • Partner with Senior and Lead Engineers
  • Build skills in AIaugmented workflows, systems thinking, and analytical problemsolving
 
Required Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of software engineering experience (including internships or coop experience)
  • Knowledge of at least one modern programming language
  • Familiarity with Gitbased version control and CI/CD concepts
  • Strong interest in AI, automation, and modern engineering practices
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to cloud platforms and APIbased architectures
  • Experience working in agile or PODbased delivery models
  • Basic understanding of testing frameworks or automation tools

The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is $68,911 to $161,544

Capgemini provides compensation range information in accordance with applicable national, state, provincial, and local pay transparency laws. The base compensation range listed for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation Capgemini, in good faith, believes it may pay for the role at the time of this posting. This range may be subject to change as permitted by law.

The actual compensation offered to any candidate may fall outside of the posted range and will be determined based on multiple factors legally permitted in the applicable jurisdiction.

These may include, but are not limited to: Geographic location, Education and qualifications, Certifications and licenses, Relevant experience and skills, Seniority and performance, Market and business consideration, Internal pay equity.

It is not typical for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the posted compensation range.

In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional compensation such as variable incentives, bonuses, or commissions, depending on the position and applicable laws.
