Job Description
We are currently looking for a student co-op to join our Manufacturing Engineering team in our Westborough, MA office (note: Olympus does not provide relocation assistance or stipends). This is a 6-month co-op assignment (January through June 2027). This is a full-time opportunity involving 35-40 hours per week at a payrate of $28.50/hr.

As a Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op, you will contribute to our mission by working with the teams responsible for delivering medical products to market. Olympus Surgical Technologies America is a business casual, team-oriented atmosphere. Products are developed and managed from Westborough, but manufacturing is performed at other locations. Therefore, multi-site discussions via conference calls are required for communication and product manufacturing development.
The co-op's project work will be directed by the Manufacturing Engineer and will contribute to the efforts of the team.
Job Duties
As a co-op, you will work in the manufacturing department primarily focused on various Urology, Surgical, and GI devices such as guidewires, catheters, and stone retrieval devices as well as single use Endoscopic Gastro-Intestinal devices.
A typical day for you will include assisting with activities such as:
  • Creating and modifying designs/drawings utilizing SolidWorks
  • Testing prototype devices for functionality
  • Supporting manufacturing with failure analysis
  • Testing competitive products
  • Working in the lab, summarizing data, performing tests, and writing technical reports
  • Participating and collaborating in team meetings and updates.

Job Qualifications
Required:
  • Must be enrolled in a full time undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited 4-year institution.
    • Preferred fields of study include Plastics Engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related discipline.
  • Must complete freshman year before the co-op assignment begins and graduate after the assignment ends (example: December 2026 grads do not qualify for co-op beginning in January 2027)•
  • Must not now or in the future require immigration-related sponsorship.**

  • Demonstrated ability to balance academic and extracurricular commitments (i.e. work experience, clubs, volunteer activities, teams, etc.).
  • Basic engineering knowledge, including mathematical skills in Calculus and Physics.
  • Must possess excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient and have practical knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to work well within a team and independently at times with limited guidance.

Preferred:
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Basic understanding of prototyping process.
  • Experience with data analysis software.
  • Experience with root cause analyses.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and deadline-driven environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize/execute multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Strong, professional communication skills.
  • Skilled in presentation development and public speaking.
  • General curiosity and a desire to learn new material.

The anticipated starting base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
