We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support our Elastomers Division located in NW Houston. This is a full-time, onsite position requiring attendance in the office Monday through Friday. Please note that this position is not eligible for employment sponsorship now or in the future.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed mechanical design work, including 3D modeling and simulations (e.g., thermal, stress).
  • Create detailed engineering and assembly drawings for manufacturing, ensuring designs meet input specifications.
  • Conduct technical analysis and resolve engineering issues in alignment with customer and industry requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including customers, suppliers, marketing, sales, and project management, to integrate design requirements.
  • Design new elastomer seals for pressure control and BOP applications and improve existing products for enhanced performance and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance of designs with customer specifications, API standards, and internal design inputs.
  • Highlight mechanical technical risks and participate in design reviews, presenting design concepts and solutions.
  • Oversee testing, verification, and conformance of design outputs to meet design inputs, ensuring performance in R&D and production phases.
  • Write comprehensive test reports and create design files, including detailed documentation of results, technical reports, and test procedures.
  • Work closely with operations, manufacturing, and production engineers to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
  • Lead efforts in generating new part numbers, bills of material (BOM), and managing related technical documentation.
  • Address design change requests promptly and ensure timely progress reporting to management and project teams.
  • Guide and coordinate the efforts of drafters and technicians involved in the design and development process.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in mechanical design within a sealing technology or elastomer manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks) and simulation tools (e.g., FEA).
  • Experience with API standards and Oil & Gas sealing requirements is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with creating and managing part numbers, bills of material (BOM), and technical documentation.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with pressure control equipment, including BOP seals and systems.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes for rubber or elastomeric components.
  • Knowledge of technical specifications and mechanical part selection processes.
  • Knowledge of polymers, elastomers, metals, and alloys used in high-pressure sealing applications is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in testing and validation of mechanical components and managing design for manufacturability.
