Job description

We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the planning and execution of subaqueous cable installation projects across the United States. This role will assist with marine construction activities including submarine power and telecommunications cable laying, burial, shore-end pulls, and related offshore operations. Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams, the Project Engineer will help coordinate project activities, monitor progress, and support safe and efficient project delivery in dynamic marine environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer who is eager to build hands-on experience in marine construction and develop specialized expertise in subsea cable systems.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the planning and execution of submarine power and telecommunications cable installation projects, including cable laying, burial, shore-end installations, and marine operations.
  • Prepare and review project plans, engineering drawings, schedules, installation procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with offshore vessel crews, subcontractors, survey teams, and project personnel to support safe and efficient project execution.
  • Participate in marine surveying, route preparation, cable loading, installation, protection, inspection, and related offshore operations.
  • Review technical submittals, vendor reports, shop drawings, and operational procedures for compliance with project and contract requirements.
  • Identify and assist in resolving technical, constructability, and operational issues in collaboration with project leadership and engineering teams.
  • Support project controls activities including scheduling, progress tracking, change orders, reporting, RFIs, and document management.
  • Coordinate procurement, delivery, and scheduling of marine equipment, specialized tools, and subcontracted services.
  • Provide field engineering support aboard marine vessels and project sites while promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Travel extensively to project sites throughout the U.S. (up to 80%)

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marine/Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required
  • 0-3 years of heavy civil, marine construction, or related experience preferred
  • Internship or co-op experience in construction, surveying, or marine operations is a plus
  • Strong interest in marine construction and willingness to learn specialized subaqueous cable installation techniques
  • Basic understanding of project management principles including scheduling, procurement, and cost control
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or AutoCAD is beneficial
  • Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced field environments and adapt to changing project conditions
  • Willingness to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and travel frequently as project demands require
  • Valid driver's license required
