Job description

Ever aspired to build best-in-class shopping experience for millions of customers visiting Amazon.com everyday? Do you like to be at the center of launching new, fascinating devices every year worldwide? Is your DNA beaming with innovation and fueled by passion to use machine learning, big data, and latest AWS tools and technologies to build new platforms and services that operate well at scale? If yes, continue reading...
Amazon Devices is looking for a results-oriented and passionate software engineer who wants to help transform the way people shop for Amazon devices and digital subscriptions: whether it's online or offline; on desktop, tablet, or mobile; or using the power of your voice. We are at the crossroads of using machine learning, modern JavaScript frameworks, and stateless microservices architecture to build a never seen experience for Devices. Come join us while we are still laying out the blueprint!
Who We Are
We are the ones that make millions of customers on Amazon.com browsing and shopping for Amazon Devices like Echo, Tablets, Kindle, and Fire TV a reality and in several offline channels. We are one of the most innovative and fastest growing businesses at Amazon.
Who You Are
As a software engineer for the Amazon Devices business, you will own and execute on some of the long-term technical initiatives and build products, features, and services that facilitate the entire customer journey starting from search until checkout. This is a highly visible role and inherently cross-functional - you will work closely with multiple product managers, design, senior and principal engineers across multiple teams and orgs to deliver new products, features, and services. We already have a lot of exciting, greenfield opportunities on our roadmap ready to go.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong technical background, customer obsession and the ability to thrive in a ambiguous environment. You are a champion when it comes to code reviews and design reviews. The ideal candidate will have industry-leading programming skills and knowledge of object oriented development and an established background developing web based applications and services across multiple platforms or high-volume service architectures.
About the team
The Device Sales and Customer Experience (DSCX) organization plays a pivotal role in driving the success of Devices and Services, including Amazon Echo & Alexa/Alexa+ products, Fire Tablets, Kindle E-readers, Fire TV products, and more. We build platforms and programs that help customers discover, choose, purchase, and use Amazon Devices worldwide. At the core of our responsibilities is the onsite shopping experience, where the team owns the worldwide technology powering the detailed product pages. We also manage the warranties, installments and trade-in/pre-owned businesses, ensuring a seamless customer journey. Beyond the onsite experience, we are also responsible for creating a best-in-class online subscription experience for subscription-based services. To streamline operations, we support marketing automation, improving efficiency and reducing manual workloads.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
