Job Summary:
Plans, develops, and directs all nutrition care activities for patients in order to help facilitate appropriate patient care outcomes. The Clinical Dietitian provides comprehensive patient care through the application of Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), including dietary modifications, enteral nutrition, and parenteral nutrition, utilizing current evidence-based guidelines and best practices. Applies age-specific standards across neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations to perform nutrition assessments, develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans, and monitor and evaluate patient outcomes in collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Delivers high-quality, patient-centered care by conducting nutrition-focused physical examinations to identify, diagnose, and document malnutrition. Provides nutrition education and counseling to patients and families across all age groups to promote optimal health outcomes.
The Clinical Dietitian contributes to departmental excellence through quality improvement initiatives, mentorship and precepting of dietetic interns and Graduate Medical Education (GME) residents. Serves as a clinical resource and subject matter expert for the interdisciplinary healthcare team, supporting evidence-based practice and advancing the delivery of nutrition care.Education:
Education: Bachelor's degree in nutrition or dietetics, and successful completion of the National Registration Exam. Masters degree preferred.
Experience:
Acute care hospital experience or intership preferred
Licensure:
Licensure with the State of Florida required within the first year of employment.
Certification/Registration:
The commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
