Job description

The Washington Commanders are seeking a talented Community Relations Intern (for the 2026-2027 season) to join the Community Relations department. As a Community Relations intern, you will play a critical role in supporting our community engagement efforts, events and initiatives. This individual will be detail-oriented and able to manage various tasks and meet deadlines, and support the day-to-day operations within the Community Relations department.
This role reports to the Senior Director of Community Relations.
Internship Hours: 40 hours per week + additional hours as necessary
Role Responsibilities:
• Support Community Relations gameday activations and execution, including managing community ticket allotment, supporting pregame and in-game moments, etc.
• Assist with the planning and execution of events supporting Washington Commanders community programs and NFL initiatives such as Crucial Catch, Inspire Change, etc.
• Coordinate monthly merchandise and equipment donations including the database management/tracking of all requests, donation fulfillment and inventory management.
• Assist with planning, organizing and executing CR activations at 2026 Training Camp.
• Aid in drafting and posting in coordination with our Social Media team on the Commanders Community social media pages.
• Researching assigned topics and preparing comprehensive briefing reports.
• Serve as a liaison to nonprofits and host meetings with community members across the DMV.
• Handle and fulfill community request via email, regular mail including fan and care packages.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Skills/Qualifications
• Ability to commute to the Commanders Front Office (Riverdale, MD), BigBear.ai Performance Center (Ashburn, VA), and Northwest Stadium (Landover, MD); access to a personal vehicle is required.
• Ability to work all Commanders home preseason and regular season games, as well as events held during evenings, weekends, and outside standard business hours.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including the capacity to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
• High attention to detail and the ability to perform effectively under pressure and within tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
• Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information with professionalism.
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and internal drive to contribute to a winning team culture.
Education/Experience
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university
• High School Diploma required
• Prior work experience in professional or college sports preferred
