POSITION: Computer Aided Design and Drafting Internship Program
POSITION SUMMARY
BF&S offers an excellent internship opportunity for students. We are committed to providing interns with on-the-job education and focused real work utilizing AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Students in our program will have the opportunity to gain experience in one or more of our departments including:
  • Aviation - Develop alignments, profiles, grading plans, drainage profiles, electrical circuits, and airport plan production.
  • Bridge Design - Structural detailing and bridge plan production.
  • Right of Way - Develop property lines and plat mapping.
  • Parks, Greenways, and Trails - Set alignments, profiles, corridors, and Trail plan production.
  • Roadway Design - Set alignments, profiles, corridors, and roadway plan production.
  • Site Development - Develop site layouts, utility plans, profiles, grading plans, drainage exhibits, surfaces, corridors, detail structures, and site plan production.
  • Survey - Transform survey data into topographic mapping.
  • Water Resources - Develop alignments, grading plans, utility line plan & profiles, water and wastewater treatment plant site mans, and piping details

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsibilities include working with other technical and professional personnel providing support to them and receiving hands on support from them. You will work alongside our engineers and design technicians who will mentor you during the time you are with us.

DURATION OF INTERNSHIP
  • Typically, the internship program timeframe is three months. This timeframe is set to meet the needs of BF&S, allow students time to complete their spring semester and prepare for their upcoming fall semester.

Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Working toward completion of an associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Building Information Modeling, Construction Management, Computed Aided Design and Drafting, Design, Design Technology, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Geographic Information Science, Surveying, or similar discipline.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D or Microstation and InRoads are preferred but not required.
