What is an MPH/MBA internship?

An MPH/MBA internship is a practical work experience designed for students pursuing a dual Master of Public Health (MPH) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. These internships typically take place in healthcare organizations, consulting firms, government agencies, or non-profits, where students apply both public health and business management skills. The goal is to provide hands-on experience in areas like healthcare administration, policy analysis, program management, or strategic planning. These internships help students bridge the gap between public health principles and business practices, preparing them for leadership roles in the healthcare industry.

What do MPH/MBA interns do?

As an MPH/MBA intern, you can typically expect to work on interdisciplinary projects that combine public health principles with business strategies. This may involve analyzing healthcare market trends, assisting with health program evaluations, developing business plans for health initiatives, or supporting operational improvements within healthcare organizations. You’ll likely collaborate with professionals from diverse backgrounds, such as clinicians, data analysts, and administrators, gaining hands-on experience in both public health and management settings. These experiences are designed to build your leadership, analytical, and communication skills, preparing you for advanced roles in the healthcare industry.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an MPH/MBA intern?

Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for collaborating across diverse teams and managing dynamic projects. These skills ensure effective problem-solving, strategic decision-making, and the ability to drive impactful initiatives in both healthcare and business environments.
