Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Design Engineer 1to join our manufacturing engineering team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early‐career engineer eager to apply fundamental engineering principles to real-world manufacturing challenges. The Design Engineer will support the design, development, and improvement of products, tooling, and manufacturing processes to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of mechanical components, assemblies, and tooling for manufacturing.
  • Create and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
  • Support engineering change requests (ECRs/ECOs) and maintain accurate technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and maintenance teams to resolve design and production issues.
  • Participate in design reviews, prototype builds, and validation testing.
  • Analyze basic engineering data and assist with root cause analysis for manufacturing issues.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to cost reduction, quality, and manufacturability (DFM/DFA).
  • Occasional travel may be required to provide on-site product installation support.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of engineering experience (internships or co-op experience preferred).
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or Creo.
  • Familiarity with GD&T fundamentals.
  • Exposure to ERP/MRP systems and engineering documentation control.
  • Internship or project experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement concepts.
