Location: Clearwater, FL | Onsite Pay Rate: $42.85/hour Contract: 13 Weeks | Full-Time Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Industry: Heavy Vehicle / Manufacturing Engineering

Put Your Mechanical Design Skills to Work

Our Client is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a 13-week contract assignment supporting the design and development of heavy-duty vehicle components. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanical engineer with strong SolidWorks skills and experience working with aluminum sheet metal, extrusions, and welded assemblies. Experience designing custom modular aluminum bodies or similar vehicle structures would be a significant advantage.

TOP QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or DraftSight
  • Experience designing with aluminum sheet metal, extrusions, and weldments
  • Custom modular aluminum body experience is a major plus
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Design and develop functional, reliable, and cost-effective heavy-duty vehicle components.
  • Create and modify mechanical designs using SolidWorks.
  • Prepare layouts, engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
  • Support the design and development of aluminum sheet metal, extrusion, and welded assemblies.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis to support component design.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Support senior engineers with design plans, calculations, technical documentation, and reporting.
  • Select parts, components, and materials based on engineering and performance requirements.
  • Apply established engineering criteria and drawing standards.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and production teams.
  • Investigate and resolve engineering and design issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, customers, and other internal teams.
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, quotations, and presentations.
  • Use analytical and mathematical methods to evaluate system performance and optimize designs.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Internship experience or at least six months of related engineering experience
  • Hands-on CAD design experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to interpret and develop engineering drawings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams

POSITION DETAILS

  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Work Arrangement: 100% onsite
