Internship Monitoring Evaluation Learning information

What are some common challenges faced during an internship in monitoring, evaluation, and learning, and how can they be addressed?

Interns in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning often face challenges such as interpreting complex data, balancing multiple projects, and adapting to various reporting frameworks. Navigating diverse stakeholder expectations and ensuring data accuracy can also be demanding. These challenges can be managed by seeking regular feedback from supervisors, collaborating closely with team members, and actively participating in training sessions or workshops. Building strong organizational and communication skills will help interns contribute effectively and grow within the field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship monitoring evaluation learning professional?

To thrive in an Internship Monitoring Evaluation Learning (MEL) role, you need a solid grasp of data collection, analysis, and reporting, often supported by a background in social sciences, statistics, or international development. Familiarity with MEL frameworks, data management tools like Excel or KoboToolbox, and sometimes knowledge of statistical software such as SPSS or Stata is typically required. Attention to detail, critical thinking, strong communication, and adaptability help interns excel in supporting project evaluation and learning processes. These skills ensure accurate measurement of project impact, facilitate informed decision-making, and contribute to the continual improvement of programs.

What is an internship monitoring evaluation learning position?

Internship Monitoring Evaluation Learning (MEL) positions are entry-level roles that support the design, implementation, and analysis of projects aimed at assessing the effectiveness and impact of programs, often in the development, nonprofit, or governmental sectors. Interns in MEL typically assist with data collection, analysis, reporting, and learning activities to help organizations make data-driven decisions and improve project outcomes. These positions are ideal for students or recent graduates interested in gaining practical experience in monitoring and evaluation methodologies, research, and project management.

Job description

Company

BrainStorm is a B2B SaaS company that drives digital adoption and organizational change for outstanding companies around the world, including PepsiCo, Agilent Technologies, Mattel, IDEXX, Johnsonville, VF Corp, and more.

BrainStorm thrives on a dynamic and fun-loving atmosphere, paired with a steadfast commitment to excellence. Our high-performing team is composed of self-starters who play a pivotal role in driving our success. Once we walk through the door, it's definitely 'Go Time'.

Opportunity

Join the award-winning BrainStorm Learning Experience (LX) team! This team is responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining content meant to teach millions of users around the world to adopt AI and software in their work. As an intern, you will help shape how organizations adopt and use technology more effectively.

This isn't a typical internship. You'll work alongside experts in learning design, behavior change, AI adoption, content creation, and product development while contributing to meaningful projects that support customers around the world.

We're looking for responsible, curious, AI-native students who are eager to learn, take ownership, and make an impact. You don't need prior experience in our field, but experience with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Cloud, AI tools, or other productivity technologies is a plus.

Coordinating calendars is nobody's idea of a good time, so we built a faster path.

After you apply, you'll get an email with a link to a quick screening conversation with our AI recruiting assistant - about 10 minutes, on your schedule, no back-and-forth needed. It covers the same ground as a standard screening call: the role, your background, and what you're looking for.

A member of our team reviews every conversation before any decision is made. You're not being evaluated by an algorithm - you're just skipping the scheduling dance.

As a BrainStorm Intern, you'll do things like:
  • Use AI and modern productivity tools to accelerate learning, problem-solving, and build solutions
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of learning content and digital learning experiences
  • Assist with research related to learning, change management, and AI adoption
  • Help ensure the quality and accuracy of customer-facing content
  • Support projects involving data analysis, process improvement, or content production
  • Collaborate with team members across a variety of initiatives
What We're Looking For:

Ownership & Responsibility
You follow through on commitments, communicate proactively, and can be trusted to manage your work effectively.

Hunger to Learn
You seek feedback, ask thoughtful questions, and look for opportunities to grow.

AI-Native Mindset
You are comfortable using AI and modern technology to learn, solve problems, and increase your effectiveness.

Flexibility & Adaptability
You can balance competing priorities, learn new tools quickly, and adjust as needs evolve.

Attention to Detail
You take pride in producing high-quality work that reflects BrainStorm's standards.

Collaboration
You work well with others, contribute to discussions, and communicate professionally.

Commitment

Up to 20 hours per week
   September through December
In-person at our American Fork, Utah office

Many of BrainStorm's strongest full-time employees started as interns. We view this internship as an opportunity to identify, develop, and invest in future team members.

BrainStorm provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.

BrainStorm Inc is not open to third party solicitation or resumes for our posted FTE positions. Resumes received from third party agencies that are unsolicited will be considered complimentary.
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. If you would like more information about how your data is processed, please contact us.
