JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading all Purchasing, Materials Management, Logistics, Warehouse and Inventory Control activities for Marathon Electric - Wausau.

This position is responsible for ensuring material availability, inventory optimization, supplier performance, warehouse operations, logistics execution, production planning alignment, and continuous improvement of supply chain processes.

The role requires a strong leader capable of developing teams, implementing KPI-driven management systems, driving accountability, and supporting aggressive production growth plans.

The successful candidate will lead cross-functional collaboration between Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Sales, Sourcing, and Operations to ensure world-class supply chain performance.

Major Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead and develop Purchasing, Warehouse, Logistics, Inventory Control, and Scheduling teams.
  • Build a high-performance, KPI-driven culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Develop succession plans and talent development roadmaps.
  • Drive employee engagement and leadership development within the organization.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability systems.

Purchasing & Supplier Management

  • Lead direct and indirect purchasing activities.
  • Develop sourcing strategies supporting cost, quality, delivery, and inventory objectives.
  • Manage supplier performance scorecards and supplier development programs.
  • Lead supplier recovery actions when delivery or quality issues occur.
  • Support supplier negotiations, contracts, and long-term supply agreements.
  • Drive annual cost reduction and productivity initiatives.

Materials & Production Planning

  • Ensure material availability to support production schedules.
  • Lead MRP execution and planning activities.
  • Drive inventory optimization initiatives.
  • Manage inventory turns, safety stock strategies, and inventory accuracy.
  • Partner with Operations to support production ramp-up requirements.
  • Lead shortage management and critical material escalation processes.

Warehouse & Logistics

  • Manage warehouse operations including receiving, inventory control, material handling, shipping, and storage.
  • Drive improvements in warehouse productivity, inventory accuracy, and material flow.
  • Lead domestic and international logistics activities.
  • Manage freight performance, transportation costs, and carrier relationships.
  • Support import/export compliance requirements.

Systems & Process Excellence

  • Lead utilization and continuous improvement of Oracle and SAP systems.
  • Ensure data integrity across Purchasing, Inventory, and Planning functions.
  • Develop dashboards and KPI reporting systems.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives within Supply Chain operations.
  • Implement Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

Cross Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Sales, Finance, and Sourcing.
  • Lead S&OP participation and execution.
  • Support NPI (New Product Introduction) and production transfer projects.
  • Support strategic growth initiatives and operational expansion plans.

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive Supply Chain experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing Purchasing, Materials, Logistics, Inventory Control, or Supply Chain organizations.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing environments with annual revenues exceeding $100M preferred.
  • Experience managing multi-functional supply chain teams.
  • Strong Oracle ERP experience required.
  • SAP experience required.
  • Advanced MRP planning knowledge.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with Power BI preferred.
