Security Engineer (Pre-Sales)

Vectra AI directlyanalyzesnetwork meta-data in real time using a patented combination of data science, machine learning, andbehavioralanalysis to detect attackerbehaviorsand user anomalies in the network. All detections are correlated and prioritized to show an attack in context. Meta-data extracted by the network of sensors are sent to data-lakesin order toperform Incident Response and forensic reconstruction. 

Position Overview 

As a Security Engineer (Pre-Sales) at Vectra AI, you will combine technical expertise with consultative selling to help customers understand, evaluate, and adopt the Vectra AI Platform. 

Working closely with Regional Sales Managers, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales cycle, partnering with customers, channel partners, and distributors to solve complex cybersecurity challenges. You will deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, proof-of-value engagements, and architectural guidance while helping customers understand how Vectra enables them to detect, investigate, and respond to modern hybrid attacks. 

Responsibilities 

  • Partner closely with Regional Sales Managers throughout the sales cycle as the trusted technical advisor.  
  • Lead technical discovery sessions to understand customer requirements, security challenges, and desired business outcomes.  
  • Deliver compelling technical presentations, product demonstrations, workshops, and Proof of Value (PoV) engagements.  
  • Design and recommend solution architectures that align with customer environments and security objectives.  
  • Translate technical capabilities into measurable customer value and business outcomes.  
  • Build and maintain trusted technical relationships with customers, channel partners, and distributors.  
  • Support partner-led opportunities by enabling channel partners and distributors through technical coaching, demonstrations, and best practices.  
  • Advise customers on integrating the Vectra AI Platform with their existing security ecosystem, including SIEM, SOAR, XDR, EDR, cloud, and identity platforms.  
  • Present technical concepts confidently to audiences ranging from SOC analysts and security architects to CISOs and executive stakeholders.  
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Customer Success, Marketing, and Sales to provide customer feedback and improve customer outcomes.  
  • Maintain expertise in the Vectra AI Platform, emerging cybersecurity threats, attack techniques, and competitive technologies.  
  • Participate in account strategy, opportunity planning, forecast, and business review meetings.  
  • Represent Vectra AI at customer events, partner enablement sessions, industry conferences, and technical workshops.  
  • Mentor peers by sharing technical knowledge, best practices, and field feedback across the Security Engineering organization.  
  • Travel within the assigned region as required. 

Experience & Soft Skills 

  • 5+ years of experience as a Security Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or in a similar customer-facing technical role.  
  • Experience supporting enterprise and strategic customer engagements.  
  • Strong consultative and customer-first mindset with excellent presentation and communication skills.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical practitioners, security leadership, and executive stakeholders.  
  • Comfortable leading technical discussions with customers from initial discovery through successful technical validation.  
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.  
  • Proven ability to build strong partnerships with Regional Sales Managers and cross-functional teams.  
  • Experience working with channel partners, distributors, and partner-led sales engagements is a strong plus. 
     

Technical Qualification 

  • Strong understanding of modern cybersecurity technologies such as Network Detection and Response (NDR), Extended Detection and Response (XDR), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), SIEM, Identity Security, CASB, or Digital Forensics.  
  • Strong networking knowledge with the ability to understand and troubleshoot technologies across OSI Layers 3-7.  
  • Experience with cloud and hybrid security architectures, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.  
  • Understanding of identity technologies such as Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, or Okta is highly desirable.  
  • Experience integrating security platforms with SIEM, SOAR, EDR, XDR, ticketing systems, and other security technologies.  
  • Familiarity with modern security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and the Cyber Kill Chain.  
  • Strong written communication skills, including RFP/RFI responses, and excellent verbal presentation skills.  
  • Understanding of attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (Red Team/Penetration Testing). Certifications such as CEH, OSCP, or OSCE are a plus.  
  • Understanding of Incident Response and Blue Team methodologies. Certifications such as GCIH, GCFA, or GNFA are a plus.  
  • Understanding of security governance and industry best practices. Certifications such as CISSP are a plus.Â
