Job description

United Integrated Services (USA) Corp. was founded in Phoenix, Arizona in 2020. UIS is a U.S. subsidiary of United Integrated Services Co., Ltd. (UIS Taiwan) which was founded in Taiwan in 1982. UIS is a multidisciplinary engineering and construction company. We provide fully integrated design-build services to our clients in the high-technology industry for their manufacturing facility needs. Our scope of services includes engineering design, high-tech factory planning, and on-time equipment and material delivery in which clean-room systems, HVAC, electrical systems, and tool hook-up, are all vital parts in need of total coordination.

Summary: The Electrical Design Engineer will assist in the coordination, planning, and execution of construction projects from inception to completion. In this role, you will be responsible for designing low-voltage power distribution, lighting, and auxiliary building systems for commercial, industrial, or advanced technology projects. Working under our Design department, you will coordinate with our Taipei design team, clients, subcontractors, and other design firms alike to design, coordinate and execute said design for construction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Create complete, accurate 3D BIM models, single-line diagrams, lighting layouts, power distribution systems, and fault circuit calculations directly within Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Actively coordinate spatial routing and electrical support with Mechanical (HVAC), Plumbing, Structural, Architectural, and other disciplines to resolve clashes before and or during construction.
  • Perform load calculations, panel schedule balancing, voltage drop calculations, and basic short-circuit/arc-flash analyses.
  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with applicable codes (NEC, NFPA, IBC, and local municipal standards).
  • Assist with reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, attending design coordination meetings, and participating in field reviews/site surveys as needed.
  • Maintain relevant project documentation, which may include design change logs, model sign-off, as well as any other documentation needed for BIM and Design coordination.
  • Coordinate with clients, design partners, construction partners, and potentially, city officials on design and construction related items as it pertains to BIM and Design, which can include, but is not limited to, clash detection, model fly throughs, and file navigation.
  • Coordinate with the US construction teams on the current site conditions and communicate with UIS Taiwan design team, as well as other design teams to meet requests and expectations.
  • Create and update records ensuring accuracy and validity of information.
  • Schedule and plan meetings and appointments, if needed, with clients, construction teams, and or other relevant teams
  • Perform quality control on BIM deliverables and ensure they are compliant with current BIM standard operating procedures as well as BIM execution plans
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure compliant and accurate design and construction models.
  • Assist in developing models and provide other design assistance using different design tools, as needed
  • Maintain trusting relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and other external stakeholders. Ensure clear and timely communication with stakeholders.
  • Assist leadership with administrative tasks, such as uploading and maintaining files and folders in any cloud or file medium.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) or Architectural Engineering (Electrical focus) from an accredited institution.
  • 2–4 years of experience in electrical building system design within an engineering consulting, AEC firm, or design-build environment.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP. Familiarity with AutoCAD is also expected.
  • Experience with Navisworks as well as clash detection and resolution
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Design and analyze One-line diagrams, calculate voltage drops, load balancing, short circuit analyses, power distribution, and more.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of attention to detail, and highly organized.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities depending on project needs. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees.
  • Ability to develop and maintain successful relationships with all levels of employees, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a professional attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Ability to work in a construction site environment (trailer office).

Language Proficiency:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin, preferred.

Nice to have:

  • Start-up experience, in construction preferred.
  • Prior experience designing electrical power systems, emergency power backup, or tool hookups for semiconductor fab facilities, data centers, or cleanrooms.
  • Proven ability to run Navisworks clash detection and coordinate design intent across complex mechanical, plumbing, structural, and architectural teams.
  • Verbal communication skills in Mandarin.
  • PMP, CAPM, or other relevant certifications.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE / EIT certification) preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license. May be required to travel to other sites within Arizona to perform certain work functions.
