Full-Time Middle School Mathematics Teacher

Grades 5-8 | Saint Ann School | Lawrenceville, New Jersey

Position Summary

Saint Ann School is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and student-centeredย Full-Time Middle School Mathematics Teacher to teach Mathematics to students in Grades 5-8. The successful candidate will be passionate about mathematics, committed to academic excellence, and eager to create a classroom environment in which students are challenged, supported, and inspired to become confident mathematical thinkers.

The Mathematics Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging instruction, assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and communicating effectively with students, families, and colleagues. As a member of the Saint Ann School community, the teacher will support the school's Catholic mission and contribute to the academic, spiritual, social, and personal development of each student.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Teach Mathematics to students in Grades 5-8 in a full-time capacity.
  • Plan and implement rigorous, engaging, and developmentally appropriate mathematics instruction.
  • Follow the school's curriculum and applicable Diocese of Trenton curriculum standards.
  • Develop students' mathematical reasoning, computation, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and communication skills.
  • Provide instruction in key middle school mathematics concepts, including number sense, operations, ratios and proportions, algebraic thinking, geometry, statistics, and pre-algebra/algebra concepts as appropriate.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, learning styles, and academic needs.
  • Establish clear classroom expectations and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, technology, manipulatives, real-world applications, and problem-solving activities to engage students.
  • Regularly assess student understanding through formative and summative assessments.
  • Analyze assessment data and use it to adjust instruction and provide appropriate intervention or enrichment.
  • Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students and families.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, assessment results, and academic progress.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians regarding student achievement and concerns.
  • Collaborate with faculty, administration, learning-support personnel, and other members of the school community.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, conferences, school events, and other activities as required.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students and promote responsibility, respect, perseverance, integrity, and service.
  • Support and participate in the Catholic identity and mission of Saint Ann School.
  • Perform additional professional responsibilities as assigned by the school administration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Education, or a related field.
  • New Jersey teaching certification in Mathematics preferred.
  • Middle school mathematics teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mathematics content and current middle school instructional practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and address diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students while maintaining high academic expectations.
  • Comfort using educational technology to enhance instruction and student learning.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and collaboration.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and Catholic identity of Saint Ann School.
