POSITION: Title Math Teacher

FTE:   1.0 (8 Hours)

LOCATION: Washington Elementary
Company Overview: The Olathe School District is the largest school district in the Kansas City metropolitan area and is located southwest of Kansas City, in Johnson County, Kan. The district serves students from Olathe and parts of Lenexa, Overland Park and Shawnee. Responsibilities:

         Strategically teach math to students in the Title I math program

         Communicate and support parents related to teaching their children math

         Support math staff development at the building level    

         Support Building Level Teams related to the improvement of math achievement

         Collaborate with district staff on initiatives to improve math achievement

         Assist with planning and teaching, if possible, elementary summer school math and extended learning

         Prepare and deliver focused math intervention instruction in a small group Title 1 Math setting

         Interpret assessment data to identify students' strengths and weaknesses to drive instruction

         Collaborate and confer with classroom teachers in a variety of ways (i.e., PLCs, model lessons, planning, standards discussion, analysis of student work)

         Serve as a resource for teachers with selection of materials, teaching techniques/strategies, and how to relate instruction to support student needs

         Provide resources for classroom teachers, para-professionals, aides, and parents

Qualifications:

         Valid Kansas Teacher License/Certification

         Content knowledge and expertise in teaching elementary math problem solving, algebra, geometry, number sense, and computation

         Ability to analyze and interpret assessment data to identify students' strengths and weaknesses

         Ability to facilitate building math professional staff training

         Ability to facilitate family math training evenings and extended learning for students

         Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with colleagues/parents

         Knowledge and understanding of the progressions of mathematics

         Knowledge of curriculum development, and effective math interventions/strategies


Experience:

         Preference for minimum of 3 years of successful experience

         Preference for Master's degree with significant math coursework

         Successful leadership and or experience in providing parent and staff training
