The Mechanical and Industrial Engineering department at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applicants for a Lecturer position in the Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) program with a start date in August 2026. Responsibilities include teaching a broad spectrum of ISE courses and laboratories. The candidate is also expected to engage with the program faculty on curriculum development, assessment, facilitate industry collaboration, and support program recruitment.


The Industrial and Systems Engineering program is dedicated to hands-on engineering education focused on interdisciplinary coursework and cross-disciplinary collaborations outside the classroom. We are a strong, student-centered program located in Southwest Wisconsin that prioritizes accessible undergraduate engineering education, effective teaching pedagogy, and dedication to an inclusive learning environment.

This is a full time, 9-month academic appointment. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Universities of Wisconsin System has a nationally top ranked retirement plan and a comprehensive benefits package.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Teaching undergraduate courses in industrial and systems engineering program

  • Ability to engage in modern pedagogy to teach undergraduate students through classroom and laboratory settings.

  • Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with colleagues to complete tasks and goals.

Required Education:

Master's Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or related fields with three years teaching experience or PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering or related fields.

Preferred Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or related fields.

Required Skills, Experience, and Certifications/Licensures:

  • Desire and ability to teach industrial and systems engineering courses. Please see the curriculum as listed in the catalog.

  • Ability to engage effective and inclusive pedagogy to teach undergraduate students.
    Excellent oral and written communication skills.

The Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) program housed within the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MEIE) department has a rich history, established in 1976 and continuously accredited by ABET since its inception. Our dedicated faculty members have a strong record of research, supported by funding from federal, state, and various agencies. Our graduates are highly sought after throughout Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, and beyond.

The ISE curriculum emphasizes practical, hands-on learning experiences, culminating in an Industry Senior Design course that connects students directly with regional industries. With a low student-to-faculty ratio of 18:1, we ensure personalized attention and a supportive learning environment. We are also proud to have a diverse student body, with one in every three students being female, reflecting our commitment to bringing engineering to a broader audience.

Our program boasts a very high placement rate for our graduates, one of the highest in the College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (EMS).
