Description: .05 FTE Instructional Coach/MTSS Coordinator at Talkeetna Elementary school
Job Summary: The Role of the Instructional Coach/MTSS Coordinator is to assist the Principal in guiding instruction that maximize learning for all students. This includes helping to coordinate schedules of students and staff members for delivery of instruction, coaching staff on instructional practices, reviewing data for individual students to coordinate instruction, and as a whole school. Help to facilitate data-dialogue meetings whether they are stand-alone meetings, or a part of the PLC Team Time Process. Help to deliver Professional Learning to and with staff. Coordinate and lead MTSS meetings. Work directly with the regular ed and special education departments on coordination of instruction.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and an Alaska Type A Teaching Certificate. Knowledge of MTSS, Tiered Instruction, Alaska Reads Act, Science of Reading, and Ready Math/Ready Reading Preferred. Ability to meet Alaska Reads Act requirements.
Qualifications: Alaska Teaching Certificate and Bachelor's degree. Experience with trauma sensitive schools preferred. Ability to meet the Alaska Reads Act requirements.
Essential Duties
1 Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated by the principal. 2 Plans a program of study to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students and adheres to the District curricular objectives. 3 Displays a conceptual knowledge of the content being taught. 4 Selects and/or creates teaching materials selected to fit into the instructional plan. 5 Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Alters teaching strategy to meet the needs of the students and is conscious of behavioral clues coming from students. 6 Communicates information, explanations, justifications, expectations, directions, and evaluations to students, teachers, parents, other district staff, and community members with efficiency and clarity. 7 Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of principal. 8 Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates these objectives to students. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals. 9 Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media; consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs and capabilities of individuals or student groups involved. 10 Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. Creates or selects, and administers suitable tests for summative, formative, and diagnostic purposes. 11 Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 12 Maintains accurate and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. 13 Assists administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct in school. Develops reasonable rules of behavior, procedures for discipline, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner within the classroom. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. 14 Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when requested. 15 Supervises and plans purposeful assignments for volunteers and assists the principal in supervising and evaluating classified staff as requested. 16 Strives to maintain and improve professional competence, attends staff meetings, and serves on committees. 17 Other duties as assigned by principal.
Physical Requirements: LIGHT WORK: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligable amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
