Position Summary:


The Math Teacher will work collaboratively to prepare students within the grade levels of 6 - 8th for success in college and the global workforce. They will recognize and embrace their responsibility for the academic, social, and emotional development of children and build relationships with students, families, and colleagues to advance our mission.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Actively build strong relationships with parents and families that foster trust, collaboration, and communication
  • Promote and support academic programs with promotion based on standards mastery
  • Examine student assessment data to inform decision-making and to guide and improve instruction
  • Promote high levels of learning engagingly and effectively, using a variety of instructional methodologies, curriculum resources, and materials
  • Integrate literacy strategies into the instructional framework
  • Differentiate instruction to reach all learners
  • Plan, organize, and deliver appropriate lessons for assigned area(s) of responsibility, and submit lesson plans to the assigned administrator
  • Establish and maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and student success
  • Collaborate with fellow SEED staff on student support, planning, professional development, and standards-based curriculum and common assessment design to contribute to the continuous improvement of instruction at the school
  • Professionally assess students' learning and communicate students' progress to parents and fellow teachers to facilitate future instruction
  • Identify the special needs of students and seek additional support
  • Co-planning and co-teaching with the ESE teacher to ensure the needs of all students are being met
  • Maintain and submit necessary records, progress reports, and grade reports, and provide timely and ongoing feedback to students and families regarding student progress
  • Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, staff development programs, and other school-sponsored activities
  • Participate in summer programming (June and August), including direct service to incoming and returning SEED youth and curriculum work with colleagues
  • Contribute to a positive student-adult school culture
  • Assist in classroom and general building supervision and discipline of students according to the school's Model of Care
  • Adhere to the professional and ethical standards as outlined in the SEED Miami Staff Manual
  • Engage in home visits (according to the protocol and expectations outlined in the staff handbook)
  • Perform other tasks as required and/or assigned by supervisor(s).

Compensation Package:

  • Starting Salary: 63,055.00
  • Health Coverage: Medical, Dental, Vision, STD, LTD, Group Life, Voluntary Life
  • 403B Deferred Compensation up to 6% Employer Match.  

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related content area (preferred)
  • 1-3 years of teaching experience (preferred)
  • ESOL endorsement (if applicable)
  • Current FLDOE certification or statement of Eligibility in the Grades 6-12 subject area
  •  Pre-Employment Requirements: Drug & Level 2 Fingerprint screening ( https://info.flclearinghouse.com ) Â
