Training Specialist, Navy and Marine Corps Curriculum Focused
San Diego, Coronado, CA
The Training Specialist provides curriculum development/maintenance and training support to Expeditionary Warfare Training Group (EWTGPAC) in execution of its curriculum supporting Navy and Marine Corps from its Coronado, CA facility aligned with the following duties and responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop curriculum and maintain curriculum currency (make changes and revisions) for Expeditionary Logistics, Expeditionary Fires, Fires Support Marine Pipeline, Marine Amphibious Raid, Tactical Air and Joint Fires Programs of Instruction.
  • Utilize on-line/web-based Authoring tools in the development and revision of curriculum: Authoring Instructional Material (AIM II), the Marine Corps Training Information Management System (MCTIMS), and potentially newly identified curriculum development software daily to produce Master Lesson Files that include objectives, lesson guides that are sequenced by objectives, student guides, media that is used in the classroom, as well as tests that measure student's knowledge and performance.
  • Review and develop course test banks for alignment of tests with course content and objectives.
  • Support the Learning Standards Instructional System Specialists, by assisting in providing monthly, and "by-request" training to the instructor staff on the procedures for curriculum development and the review and update of existing training curriculum.
  • Conduct instructor evaluations, making recommendations to the Instructional System Specialists on the certification of new instructors and the annual evaluation of certified instructors.
  • Review student critiques and "After Instruction Reports" (AIRs) and make recommendations on training solutions.
  • Perform other tasks deemed necessary by the course manager.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Must be a graduate from Navy / Marine Corps basic instructor courses and curriculum development courses.
  • Must have extensive experience working with curriculum in an integrated Navy/Marine Corps training environment.
  • Must have performed as an Instructor with Expeditionary/Joint Fires including experience with the following specialized billets: Curriculum Developer, Curriculum Administrator, Instructor.
  • Must have experience and exhibit the ability to enter curriculum into the Authoring Instructional Material (IAM) and the Marine Corps Training Instructional Management System (MCTIMS) authoring systems.

PREFERRED
  • Exhibit the knowledge and ability to train military instructors in the use of command directed authoring systems (AIM/MCTIMS).

  • Must possess the ability to represent the command at various conferences and meetings on matters under the cognizance of the N9 Learning Standards Directorate and in support of the command mission goals.
  • Must possess the ability to operate independently, planning, scheduling, and executing projects and programs, and must have the ability to deliver professional, complete, accurate, and standardized instructional products.
  • Demonstrate the ability to enter data and run reports from Navy and Marine Corps training databases (Corporate Enterprise Training Activity Resource System (CeTARs) and (MCTIMS).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Able to design and write clear communications and present training programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
  • Must be able to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft (less than5% of the time and most often (but not always) within a 50-mile commuting distance to support training at bases within the Southwest region.)

SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
  • May require occasional travel for up to three weeks at a time (or longer).
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company's auto insurance provider.

SECURITY CLEARANCE
  • Candidate must possess an active Secret security clearance or higher.

ESTIMATED COMPENSATION
  • $85,000 - $95,000
