Position Overview
MxD is currently seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior Systems Integration Engineer Associate. You will become part of the team responsible for demonstrating state-of-the-art digital technologies for use in America's factories, participate in cutting-edge projects, and communicate the future state of digital manufacturing to MxD members and partners. In this role, you will have a variety of responsibilities including technical contribution to specific projects, communicating the development and implementation of digital manufacturing technologies, and the MxD Factory Floor. You will report to the Sr. Director of Engineering.
Ideal candidates should have networks, cybersecurity, control systems, MES, and PLM integration as these are just a few of the many areas covered in this role. Candidates must have sufficient experience to understand and communicate digital technologies, interface with MxD members/partners, as well as be capable of building these technologies while explaining the process of the design and implementation. As a research institution, MxD offers you the opportunity and flexibility to work on the frontier of the latest advancements in digital manufacturing technology!
Position Responsibilities
  • Participate in digital modernization assessments across the Organic Industrial Base (OIB) facilities
  • Provide technical guidance and real-time feedback to OIB stakeholders
  • Translate stakeholder needs into scoped modernization initiatives
  • Align with Gov Engagement on grant and proposal opportunities
  • Write technical deliverables for project documentation
  • Align solutions to opportunities and use cases
  • Interface with plant leaders, operators, and military officers
  • Ensure identified solutions are implemented and sustained
  • Represent MxD at industry forums and events
  • Utilize industry and members in providing and implementing solutions
  • Lead tours of the MxD factory floor

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Systems Engineering or equivalent relevant experience or education
  • This position requires the employee to be on-site at the MxD facility (Chicago) most of the time, with some flexibility for hybrid work based on team and manager needs. (Must be local to the Chicagoland Area)
  • 4 years of progressive experience in manufacturing systems integration (preferred)
  • Proven experience with digital manufacturing technologies
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interface with the executive levels of both MxD and MxD commercial and academic partners
  • Hands-on, team-oriented, and committed to the advancement of manufacturing technologies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with strong project management skills
  • Experience excelling within fast-paced, high-energy environments
  • Strong risk assessment, problem-solving, and corrective action capabilities
  • Knowledge of manufacturing integration standards (e.g., ISA-95, ISA-88)
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages for automation and data integration
  • Ability and willingness to travel to OIB and partner facilities at least 30% of the time

Salary Range: $85,396 to $119,554
