Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and manage large-scale projects within heavy manufacturing and fabrication operations. This role is responsible for overseeing complex manufacturing programs from initiation through execution and closeout, ensuring alignment across engineering, production, quality assurance, and supply chain functions.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing complex projects in heavy manufacturing environments, with a strong background in shipbuilding or similar large-scale fabrication industries. This role requires a strategic thinker with proven ability to manage full project lifecycles, maintain critical path schedules, and deliver programs exceeding $10M in value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of the project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure for large-scale manufacturing and fabrication projects
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure adherence to timelines and cost constraints
  • Identify critical path activities, manage dependencies, and develop mitigation plans to maintain delivery performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, quality assurance, and supply chain to ensure project alignment
  • Manage complex component builds and ensure execution aligns with schedule and delivery requirements
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address potential challenges
  • Communicate project status, metrics, and updates to stakeholders, including senior management and clients
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout project execution
  • Mentor and guide junior project managers and team members
  • Develop detailed project plan assessments including critical path mapping, dependency tracking, and resource loading

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or related field (Masterโ€™s preferred)
  • 8โ€“10+ years of project management experience in heavy manufacturing, fabrication, or shipbuilding environments
  • Proven experience managing large, complex projects with budgets exceeding $10M
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (PMI, Agile)
  • Experience using project management tools such as MS Project and Primavera
  • Experience managing in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing complex component builds, including critical path identification and mitigation planning
  • Strong executive-level communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management, problem-solving, and decision-making within manufacturing settings
  • Professional certification in Project Management (PMP or equivalent) highly desirable
  • DoD contracting experience preferred
  • Confidential or Secret clearance preferred (not required)
