Located in Modesto, California, Atherton & Associates, LLP is a quality firm founded more than 100 years ago with a strong commitment to providing the highest possible level of service to our clients. We provide a wide variety of services for our clients that include tax planning and preparation, estate planning, accounting, auditing, and general business advisory services. The many large and small family-owned businesses that we serve include agriculture, food processing, cooperative, real estate, transportation, manufacturing, warehousing, and medical industries.
We are actively recruiting self-motivated college or university students interested in getting a glimpse into working in a professional CPA firm environment. This is a great opportunity to observe some of the daily challenges, routines, cycles, tax and accounting language, and so much more. Interns will get ahead on their chosen careers by developing people skills, collaboration, communication, time management, and teamwork in a professional working environment. Selected interns' work schedules will be coordinated to accommodate their academic commitments.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Administrative and clerical tasks related to tax return preparation, including but not limited to the following:
  • Support the onboarding of new clients by coordinating system setup across internal platforms.
  • Curate and organize client documentation to facilitate efficient and accurate tax preparation.
  • Contribute to the management and flow of client information throughout the Firm.
  • Assist with the development of comprehensive client tax support files.
  • Support the preparation of selected client tax forms in alignment with Firm standards.
  • Support the offboarding of departing clients.

Qualifications:
  • Currently seeking B.A./B.S. degree in business administration, accounting concentration. Majors in Economics, Finance, and Math are welcome to apply as well.
  • Be in good academic standing, making satisfactory progress towards degree.
  • Junior status and seniors in final years accepted.
  • Full-time or part-time according to school schedule.
  • Positive "can-do" attitude, passionate about learning.
  • High attention to detail.
