Job title: Vision Engineer

Duration: 6+ months contract with possibility of extension

Location: Wixom, MI (Onsite)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Vision Engineer to join our team in Wixom, MI to support multiple high-priority automation projects.

The selected candidate will primarily work onsite in Wixom and will later travel to Toledo for system commissioning as required.

No travel or relocation expenses can be provided.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Keyence and Cognex machine vision systems and be capable of designing, developing, and implementing machine vision inspection applications for industrial automation.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and implement machine vision inspection systems based on customer specifications and project requirements.

Perform feasibility studies for machine vision applications.

Develop vision applications using Cognex EasyBuilder, Keyence, and related vision tools.

Configure and optimize machine vision systems for inspection, barcode reading, OCR, presence/absence detection, kitting verification, and model inspection.

Work with external lighting, filters, lenses, and GigE camera networks.

Support commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and system optimization at customer sites.

Collaborate with engineering teams and communicate professionally with customers.

Travel to customer sites (primarily Toledo) as needed for commissioning and support.

Required Qualifications:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (equivalent experience will also be considered).

3+ years of experience in Machine Vision Engineering.

Strong hands-on experience with:

Keyence Vision Systems

Cognex Vision Systems

Cognex EasyBuilder

Experience developing applications for:

Presence/Absence Inspection

Kitting Verification

Model Inspection

Barcode Reading

OCR (Optical Character Recognition)

Experience working with:

GigE Vision Networks

External Lighting, Filters, and Lenses

Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.

Excellent communication and customer interaction skills.

Willingness to travel for commissioning activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Matrox Design Assistant (DA) and template programming.

Experience with Allied Vision, Basler, GVI, and Smart Vision Lighting.

AIA Certification is a plus but not required.
