Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

We’re Hiring: Machine Vision Engineer

We’re looking for a Machine Vision Engineer to help develop and deploy vision-based solutions across multiple manufacturing plants. In this role, you’ll work on projects involving quality inspection, process monitoring, automation, and data collection to improve manufacturing performance, efficiency, and throughput.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in manufacturing, machine vision, and/or controls who wants to grow their skills through hands-on projects, collaboration, and continuous learning.

 What You’ll Do
  • Design, implement, and support machine vision applications
  • Use imaging and machine learning tools to automate manufacturing processes
  • Partner with engineering, operations, and process teams to solve plant challenges
  • Analyze process data and apply optimization methods to improve performance
  • Document results and contribute to technical innovation
What We’re Looking For
  • BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field
  • 3+ experience with BS/MS degree in another engineering field is acceptable
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience preferred
  • Programming experience in Python, C/C++, or C#
  • Experience with machine vision systems, smart cameras, or industrial vision platforms
  • Basic understanding of machine learning
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience
  • Cognex, Keyence, Halcon, VisionPro, or LabVIEW
  • PLC programming, especially Allen-Bradley
  • Electrical controls systems
  • Process control, data analysis, and system modeling
  • Databricks, AWS, or Six Sigma/DMAIC
Additional Details
  • Up to 25% domestic travel
  • Typically 40 hours/week, with occasional nights or weekends based on project needs

The range for this position is $82,051.00 - $112,821.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
