Internship Loadrunner information

What is an internship LoadRunner?

Internship Loadrunner positions are entry-level roles where interns learn and assist with performance testing using Micro Focus LoadRunner, a popular software tool for testing the behavior and performance of applications under load. Interns typically support senior testers by creating, executing, and analyzing test scripts to identify bottlenecks and ensure system stability. These internships are ideal for students or recent graduates interested in software quality assurance, performance engineering, or DevOps. The experience gained can help interns build practical skills for a career in software testing or performance analysis.

What does an internship LoadRunner do?

As an Internship LoadRunner, you will typically assist in designing and executing performance tests using Micro Focus LoadRunner. Your responsibilities may include preparing test scripts, setting up test environments, monitoring system performance, and analyzing test results to identify bottlenecks. You'll often collaborate with QA engineers, developers, and project managers to coordinate testing schedules and troubleshoot issues. This hands-on experience helps you develop valuable skills in performance testing and teamwork within a professional IT environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship LoadRunner?

To thrive as an Internship LoadRunner, a solid understanding of software testing fundamentals, basic programming skills, and a background in computer science or a related field are generally required. Familiarity with LoadRunner software, performance testing tools, and scripting languages like C or JavaScript is typically expected. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication help interns collaborate with teams and interpret test results. These skills are vital to accurately assess system performance, identify bottlenecks, and contribute to the overall quality and reliability of software applications.

What is the difference between Internship Loadrunner vs QA Tester?

AspectInternship LoadrunnerQA Tester
Required CredentialsBasic understanding of performance testing tools, possibly some certificationsKnowledge of testing methodologies, certifications like ISTQB beneficial
Work EnvironmentInternship setting, supervised, often in software development teamsOffice-based, part of quality assurance teams in various industries
Employer & Industry UsageUsed in software companies for performance testing internshipsCommon in IT, software, and tech companies for quality assurance roles

Internship Loadrunner focuses on gaining hands-on experience with performance testing tools during an internship, often under supervision. QA Tester roles involve evaluating software quality through various testing methods, including performance testing, and may require more advanced certifications. Both roles are integral to software development, but Internship Loadrunner is typically an entry-level, temporary position aimed at learning, while QA Tester can be a full-time role with broader testing responsibilities.

Job description

Job Title: Associate Agile Developer in Test.
Type: Contract – 6-month internship
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Interview: In-Person Interview
Work Mode: Hybrid (First 2-3 days are on site then once a month in the office. The rest is remote.)

Note: 20–40 hours/week - The Manager is looking for current College students or very recent graduates. The position can be flexible around college classes.

Job summary:

We build and support in-house enterprise applications used across the organization. Our stack includes Spring Framework 6 / Spring Boot / Spring Security, Java 17, Tomcat, MyBatis, and IBM FileNet (workflow maps). Quality is a shared responsibility—and we’re actively modernizing our test strategy to shift-left and increase automation coverage earlier in the SDLC.

As an SDET Intern / Recent College Graduate, you’ll help with release verification while also contributing to our shift-left automation strategy by designing and delivering test cases and automated tests. You’ll work alongside developers, QA, and release/DevOps partners to improve reliability and reduce manual regression effort.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support release verification activities (smoke/regression validation, release readiness checks, documenting results).
  • Create, review, and maintain test cases aligned to user stories, acceptance criteria, and risk areas.
  • Build and expand automated tests using Java + JUnit + Selenium + Cucumber (BDD).
  • Partner with developers early (“shift-left”) to:
  • clarify requirements and edge cases,
  • identify test scenarios up front,
  • promote testability and quality gates.
  • Improve test assets and framework components (page objects, step definitions, test data utilities, reusable helpers).
  • Help analyze failures and contribute to defect triage (clear reproduction steps, logs/screenshots, root-cause hints).
  • Contribute to documentation and continuous improvement (test strategy notes, coverage tracking, regression checklists).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: (Intern / Recent Grad level)

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Java and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts (coursework or projects are fine); familiarity with Spring Boot is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of software testing concepts, including Unit Testing (e.g., JUnit) and the defect lifecycle.
  • Foundational Database testing skills and familiarity with SQL (Oracle or MongoDB a plus).
  • Exposure to build tools like Maven.
  • Basic scripting knowledge in at least one language (Bash/Shell, PowerShell, or Python).
  • Comfortable learning and collaborating in an Agile environment.

FAMILIARITY & DESIRABLE SKILLS: (Nice to have – we’ll help you learn!)

  • CI/CD & DevOps: Exposure to continuous integration tools (Jenkins, GitHub, GitHub Actions) and artifact repositories (Nexus).
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Basic familiarity with Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Automation Frameworks: Exposure to Cucumber (BDD/Gherkin) and Selenium UI automation principles (locators, page objects).
  • Performance & Load Testing: Fundamentals of performance/load testing (e.g., JMeter, Performance Center, LoadRunner) and the ability to analyze response times, throughput, and bottlenecks for release verification.
  • Application Security:  Basic understanding of application security concepts and the OWASP Top 10 (theoretical knowledge is fine).
  • Familiarity with security testing methodologies (penetration testing, threat modeling, XSS, or SQL injection).
  • Exposure to security tools (e.g., Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, Nessus, Veracode, AppScan) or integrating security scans into CI/CD pipelines.
  • AI & Innovation: Experience or interest in using AI/Machine Learning tools (like LLMs) to optimize testing or CI/CD workflows.
  • Any experience with MyBatis, Tomcat, or IBM FileNet workflows.
  • Educational requirements:
  • Current college student (Undergrad or Masters)
  • Recent college grad
