Job description

Crawford, Murphy & Tilly is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Water Resources group in the St. Louis, MO office. This is not a remote position.


We are a fast-growing firm with 500+ employees across 25 offices in 10 states serving clients through our four primary business groups:

CMT provides planning, environmental, design, and construction observation phase services on projects in all four of these groups and more, which range from simple to complex. 


As a Water Resource Civil Engineer, you'll play a key role in working with senior staff, to support a wide range of municipal infrastructure projects, working closely with experienced engineers on planning, design, permitting, and construction-phase services.

What you will do:

  • Support water, wastewater, and stormwater municipal infrastructure projects from planning through construction
  • Projects may include water supply and treatment, water distribution mains, water storage, sanitary sewers, water and wastewater pump stations, wastewater treatment, and stormwater systems
  • Work on periodic construction observation in the field
  • Attend team meetings and contribute ideas
  • Developing technical reports and present collaborative ideas
  • Be open to feedback and professional growth
  • Engineering new grads: assist with plan preparation & field visits alongside experienced engineers

Here is what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or your technical field is required. 
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, ArcGIS
  • Strong technical aptitude and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with a willingness to learn. 
  • Ability to work in the field, as needed, for engineering roles.
  • Possession of a current and valid driver’s license to travel to field sites, as needed, for engineering roles.

Ideally, you will also have:

  • 0-4 years of Civil Engineering or internship experience related to your field.
  • FE certification or the ability to obtain certification
  • Previous internship or co-op experience

The expected compensation range for this position is $70,500 - $76,000 annually. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on numerous factors, including but not limited to individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic location.
