Summary:The Legal Team Intern supports the Legal and Business Administration departments by assisting with legal research, document management, data organization, reporting, and special projects. This internship provides hands-on exposure to corporate legal operations, compliance, risk management, contract administration, insurance claims, real estate matters, and business processes within a global organization.

Compensation: This hourly, non-exempt position pays from $18.75 to $21.75 per hour, with overtime compensated at 1.5 times the base rate. New hires usually earn between $7,000 and $8,000 annually, or more, depending on experience, overtime hours, and bonuses.
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to complete the following essential duties and responsibilities:Legal & Compliance Support - Assist with preparing summaries of depositions, legal documents, and case-related materials.
- Track subpoenas, legal notices, and other incoming legal correspondence.
- Maintain litigation, claims, and compliance tracking databases and reports.
- Conduct research on business registrations, regulatory requirements, public records, and other legal matters.
- Support corporate compliance initiatives and special compliance projects.
Claims & Risk Management Support - Organize and maintain property, cargo, automobile, and customer claim files.
- Assist with claim intake, documentation, status reporting, and tracking activities.
- Support risk management processes through accurate recordkeeping and data management.
Business Administration Support - Prepare collections reports, summaries, and supporting documentation for management review.
- Assist with customer complaint tracking, investigation documentation, and resolution follow-up.
- Support process improvement initiatives and other business operations projects.
Property & Facilities Administration - Maintain property-related compliance records for MSI locations.
- Track inspection schedules, certifications, and related documentation, including:
- HVAC systems
- Fire sprinkler inspections
- Fire alarm inspections
- Backflow prevention testing
- Assist with organizing facility records and ensuring timely completion of compliance requirements.
Research & Special Projects - Conduct research on legal, business, real estate, compliance, and operational topics.
- Assist with preparing presentations, reports, and project materials for department initiatives.
- Analyze, organize, and summarize information to support decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Additionally the candidate must meet the following Education and/or Experience requirements: - Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Political Science, Legal Studies, Pre-Law, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous internship, administrative, research, or legal support experience is a plus but not required.
- Interest in corporate law, compliance, risk management, business operations, or related areas is preferred.
- Strong research, analytical, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to gather, evaluate, and summarize information effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail, particularly when reviewing legal documents, citations, and records.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Eagerness to learn, adapt, and contribute in a professional legal and business environment.
