HouseMax Funding is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to help build and support the technology that drives our real estate lending operations.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining internal applications, supporting the data infrastructure that powers key business functions, and contributing to innovative solutions leveraging modern web technologies and LLMs.

While your primary focus will be application development, you will also assist with maintaining data ingestion processes, integrations, and reporting tools. Reporting to the Data Analytics Engineer, you will collaborate closely with Operations, Leadership, and cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable, reliable technology solutions that improve efficiency and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.

What you’ll do
  • Build and maintain features for our internal applications using Next.js, Supabase, and Vercel
  • Implement bug fixes, enhancements, and new functionality from defined specs and tickets
  • Provide production support in a fast-paced real estate environment
  • Develop and maintain APIs to support application functionality and data integrations
  • Maintain existing data ingestion jobs (Python, SQL Server) during team absences and as needed
  • Write and maintain SQL queries supporting reporting and data operations
  • Assist with SSRS reports and SQL Server work as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 0-2+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, analytics, database management, or API development
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and modern development practices
  • Experience building, maintaining, or contributing to web-based applications
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and third‑party system integrations
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, reliable technical solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Next.js, React, or other modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Familiarity with AI‑assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex
  • Experience working with PostgreSQL, Supabase, or other relational database platforms
  • Familiarity with Vercel or similar cloud deployment and hosting platforms
  • Experience in real estate lending, mortgage, fintech, or a related financial services industry

Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full‑time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, and occasional evening and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.
