As a Software Engineer within PNC's Technology organization, you can be based in Pittsburgh PA, Strongsville OH, Birmingham AL, Phoenix AZ or Dallas TX.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Policy as Code (PAC) team within the Pipeline Engineering organization. This role will play a key part in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable policy, compliance, and automation solutions that integrate seamlessly into modern CI/CD pipelines.
As a senior member of the team, you will contribute to both backend and frontend solutions, help shape technical direction, and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across engineering, security, and compliance. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in Agile environments and enjoys solving complex problems at the intersection of software development, DevSecOps, and compliance automation.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain policy-as-code solutions that enable automated governance and compliance.
Build and enhance applications using JavaScript and modern frameworks (preferably Vue, with Angular or React as alternatives).
Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices to support policy enforcement and automation workflows.
Collaborate with DevSecOps and pipeline engineering teams to embed policies into CI/CD pipelines.
Work with containerized and cloud-native environments using Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Apply UI/UX design principles to deliver intuitive, user-friendly interfaces.
Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and code reviews.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical best practices and standards.
Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize systems for performance, reliability, and scalability.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred
Proficiency in front-end JavaScript frameworks(React, Angular, or Vue)
Experience with Golang
Strong knowledge of NoSQL database systems (MongoDB)
Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
Understanding of cloud platforms and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub actions, Jenkins)
DevOps principles
Problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with rule engines, policy-as-code frameworks, or compliance automation tools.
Background in security, governance, or compliance-focused engineering.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and cloud-native architectures.
Experience influencing technical direction or architecture decisions.
