Job description

Junior Interior Designer

Adelyn Charles Interiors

Adelyn Charles Interiors is seeking a talented and motivated Junior Interior Designer to join our growing design team. This role is ideal for an emerging designer who has a strong eye for interiors, excellent organizational skills, and is eager to develop into a well-rounded interior designer within a collaborative, high-end residential design firm.

The Junior Interior Designer will work closely with our Lead and Associate Designers to support projects from initial concept through installation. This position blends hands-on design responsibilities with project support and is intended for someone who is ready to contribute creatively while continuing to learn and grow.

As experience and confidence develop, the Junior Interior Designer will also have opportunities to take ownership of smaller projects and portions of larger projects under the guidance of senior members of the design team.

Responsibilities

Design & Project Support

  • Assist designers with the development of design concepts, finish selections, furnishings, lighting, plumbing, hardware, and decorative materials
  • Source furniture, fabrics, wallcoverings, lighting, accessories, and other project materials
  • Prepare and maintain finish schedules, lighting schedules, plumbing schedules, and other project documentation
  • Assist with furniture plans, elevations, presentations, specification packages, and client-facing design materials
  • Research products and materials and coordinate with vendors to obtain pricing, lead times, samples, and technical information
  • Order and organize samples for project presentations
  • Maintain organized project files, specifications, selections, and design documentation
  • Assist with site visits, field measurements, project meetings, and construction documentation as needed

Presentations & Client Meetings

  • Assist in preparing polished client presentations, including presentation boards, samples, and digital materials
  • Participate in client and project meetings alongside senior designers
  • Take detailed meeting notes and assist with documenting decisions and follow-up items
  • Prepare materials and spaces for client presentations
  • Assist with revisions and follow-up selections after design presentations

Furnishings & Installations

  • Assist with furnishings selections and specifications
  • Coordinate closely with the purchasing team to ensure selections are accurately documented and ready for procurement
  • Help prepare projects for installations, including accessories, styling materials, artwork, and final project details
  • Participate in installation days and assist the design team with styling and project completion

Project Ownership & Growth

  • Take ownership of defined portions of larger projects as experience develops
  • Manage smaller design projects or individual project scopes with oversight from a Lead Designer
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, builders, and trade partners professionally and confidently
  • Develop the ability to independently make design recommendations that align with Adelyn Charles Interiors' standards and aesthetic
  • Continue building technical knowledge of residential construction, materials, furnishings, and the interior design process
What We're Looking For
  • Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field preferred
  • Approximately 1โ€“3 years of professional interior design experience preferred; exceptional recent graduates with strong internships and portfolios will also be considered
  • A strong natural eye for scale, proportion, color, materials, and composition
  • Genuine interest in high-end residential interiors and new construction
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design and presentation software; experience with AutoCAD is strongly preferred
  • Ability to read architectural drawings and understand basic construction documents
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously
  • Comfortable moving between creative design work and detailed administrative/project-support tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive, collaborative attitude and willingness to jump in wherever the team needs support
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and eager to learn
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and incorporating design direction from senior designers
The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who wants to become an exceptional interior designer and understands that developing those skills requires both creativity and mastery of the details behind a successful project.

You may already have a strong design instinct, but you are still building the technical knowledge, confidence, and experience necessary to independently manage larger projects. You enjoy sourcing and developing design concepts, but you are equally willing to create schedules, organize samples, prepare presentations, take meeting notes, and help a team get ready for an installation.

Most importantly, you are curious, dependable, detail-oriented, and excited to grow within a design firm where you can learn from experienced designers while gradually taking on greater creative responsibility.
