Job description

Eaton's GEIS division is currently seeking a Product Engineer. Relocation assistance will be provided to anyone residing outside a 50-mile radius of Syracuse, NY!
The expected annual salary range for this role is $71000 - $105000 a year.

What you'll do:
This position is accountable for providing continuous product development and sustaining engineering support to ensure the manufacturability, safety, quality, and marketability of Eaton Crouse Hinds products. The role supports hazardous and ordinary location electrical products, including luminaires, power distribution and control systems, enclosures, commercial and industrial fittings, cable tray systems, and related components.
The Product Engineer independently creates, maintains, and updates engineering documentation such as CAD drawings and models, technical specifications, bills of material (BOMs), engineering change orders (ECOs), work instructions, and standard operating procedures. The incumbent collaborates closely with manufacturing, production, sourcing, marketing, and quality teams across multiple manufacturing sites and office locations to ensure product continuity, compliance, quality, and manufacturability.
The role requires the ability to exercise sound engineering judgment when addressing product and process issues, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and recommend effective solutions aligned with preferred manufacturing methods and processes.
This position requires advanced knowledge of engineering processes, manufacturing techniques, quality systems, and information systems, and operates with broad latitude in decision making and independent execution. Key skills include advanced product design principles, engineered material selection, design to cost analysis, project management, cross functional team collaboration, technical report writing, computer assisted design (CAD), and proficiency with standard PC based spreadsheet and word processing tools.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Systems Engineering from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 1 internship/co-op completed

Preferred Qualifications:
• Electrical products knowledge.
• Knowledge of Manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of Quality systems.
• Proficiency with Engineering software (Solid Works and AutoCAD preferred)
• Proficiency with Product Data Management systems (preferably SAP, Enovia)
• Project Management experience

• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple priorities against multiple deadlines
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
