Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:


The IT Cybersecurity & Support Intern will support the IT departmentโ€™s daily operations with a focus on documentation, infrastructure support, cybersecurity monitoring assistance, and compliance readiness activities. This junior-level internship is designed for students seeking hands-on experience in enterprise IT environments, cybersecurity fundamentals, and structured compliance frameworks such as CMMC Level 2.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist with installation, movement, removal, and setup of IT equipment.
  2. Support installation, configuration, testing, and upgrade of software applications.
  3. Provide basic IT support to end users under supervision.
  4. Document existing IT policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  5. Create and update network and facilities drawings and diagrams.
  6. Support cybersecurity alert monitoring and incident documentation.
  7. Assist with CMMC Level 2 compliance documentation and evidence collection.
  8. Perform other IT-related duties as assigned


POSITION IN ORGANIZATION:


This position reports directly to the IT Administrator and has no direct reports, but demonstrates confidence, awareness, the ability to influence without authority to achieve successful outcomes regardless of reporting structures.


DECISION MAKING:


Exercise judgment consistent with Burgerโ€™s mission, vision, and code of business conduct regularly and continuously. Assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results.




COMMUNICATION:


Must demonstrate great verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to listen, talk, and teach. Demonstrate an all-pervasive positive attitude and approach to obstacles. Possess the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with clients, employees, vendors, etc. Identifies and escalates issues and obstacles in a timely manner with recommendations on how to overcome and move forward.


EDUCATION:

Currently pursuing an Associateโ€™s or bachelorโ€™s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field (junior-level preferred).


EXPERIENCE:


Basic understanding of computer hardware, Windows OS, networking fundamentals, and cybersecurity concepts.

Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.


PREFERED EXPERIENCE:

Prior IT support or internship experience.

Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, or ticketing systems.

Exposure to NIST, CMMC, or other compliance frameworks


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Frequent seated position for extended periods of time while operating a computer. Will occasionally need to walk/stand for longer periods for company events and tours.
