Job description

HUMAN RESOURCES INTERNSHIP FOR FALL 2026!

Kristen Distributing Company is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented student to join our Human Resources team as a Human Resources Intern for the Fall 2026 semester. This is an unpaid, for-credit internship designed for students who are required to complete an internship through their college or university.

This internship is intended to provide a structured educational experience that complements academic coursework. The intern will work under the close supervision and mentorship of the HR team and will gain hands-on exposure to several areas of human resources, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, training, HR administration, compliance, and special projects.

Company Overview

Kristen Distributing Company is a local, family-owned beverage distribution company based in the Bryan/College Station area, with a history dating back to 1930. We are committed to providing exceptional service, supporting the brands we represent, and creating an environment that encourages personal growth, opportunity, and respect for our employees and customers.

Internship Overview

As an HR Intern, you will gain practical, supervised experience in the day-to-day operations of a Human Resources department. This internship is structured primarily for the educational benefit of the intern and is intended to provide real-world exposure to HR practices in a professional workplace setting.

The intern’s activities will complement, rather than replace, the work of paid employees. Assignments will be designed to support learning objectives, provide meaningful exposure to HR functions, and align with the requirements of the intern’s academic program.

Learning Opportunities

Under the guidance of the HR team, the intern may have the opportunity to learn by assisting with:

  • Recruitment support, including job postings, resume review, interview scheduling, and candidate communication.

  • New hire onboarding preparation and orientation support.

  • HR recordkeeping and employee file organization.

  • Employee engagement and employee relations projects.

  • Training coordination and development support.

  • HR policy and procedure review projects.

  • Compliance-related projects and HR data analysis.

  • Observation of benefits administration processes and support with general, non-confidential benefits communications.

  • Preparation for KDC Day, our annual company event held each January, including event planning, coordination, communication, and employee engagement support.

  • Special projects based on the intern’s academic goals and the needs of the HR department.

Because HR handles sensitive and confidential information, all intern assignments will be supervised, and access to confidential employee information will be limited as appropriate.

Internship Structure & Schedule

This internship is built around academic commitments and is offered on the following terms:

  • Term: Fall 2026 semester, with the total number of hours determined by the requirements of the intern’s academic program.

  • Academic Credit: This internship must fulfill an academic requirement or earn course credit through the intern’s college or university.

  • Schedule: The intern sets a weekly schedule based on their class schedule and other commitments. We understand many students also hold a job, and we are glad to be flexible to accommodate academic and personal needs.

  • Hours: Internship hours are completed during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

  • Location: This is an in-person internship at our Bryan, Texas facility.

  • Supervision: The intern works under the supervision and mentorship of the Human Resources team.

What You Will Gain
  • Hands-on exposure to multiple areas of human resources, including recruiting, onboarding, training, employee relations, compliance, and HR administration.

  • Mentorship and guidance from experienced HR professionals.

  • Insight into the operations of a growing, family-owned business.

  • Practical experience that supports classroom learning.

  • A letter of recommendation upon successful completion of the internship.

  • Professional networking opportunities and introductions to contacts within our network when appropriate.

Qualifications

To be considered for this internship, candidates should have:

  • Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Human Resource Management, Business, Management, Psychology, Communication, or a related field.

  • A requirement to complete an internship for academic credit through an accredited college or university.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • A high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • A willingness to learn and take initiative.

  • Interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources or a related business field.

Internship Terms

This is an unpaid internship. There is no expectation of compensation or wages for the internship experience. The internship is temporary and tied to the Fall 2026 academic semester. Completion of an internship with Kristen Distributing Company does not guarantee or imply an offer of future employment.

The internship is structured primarily for the educational benefit of the intern and is intended to complement the intern’s academic coursework. Intern activities will be supervised and will complement, rather than displace, the work of paid employees.
