Required Qualifications:
  • One year’s recent experience as an Interventional Radiology RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS (AHA/ ARC) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PALS or ENPC certifications
  • ACLS certification
  • RCIS/RCES certification
  • Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
Summary:

The Interventional Radiology (IR) Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing minimally invasive procedures in the IR lab. This role involves pre-procedure assessment, intra-procedure monitoring, sedation administration, and post-procedure recovery management. The IR Nurse works closely with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal procedural outcomes.

Essential Work Functions:
  • Perform comprehensive pre-procedure assessments, including reviewing medical history and lab results
  • Educate patients and families about IR procedures, sedation, and post-procedure care
  • Administer and monitor moderate sedation, ensuring patient comfort and safety
  • Monitor hemodynamic status, cardiac rhythms, and oxygenation levels during procedures
  • Assist physicians during procedures, ensuring proper positioning, sterile technique, and instrument handling
  • Recognize and respond to complications, escalating care when necessary
  • Provide post-procedure monitoring and recovery care, including pain management and patient discharge education
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, medications, and procedural details
  • Collaborate with IR technologists, radiologists, and other healthcare team members to deliver coordinated care
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
