Job description

AtAFRYour StructuralEngineersare responsible forthe structural design for new structures as well as existing structural upgrades. Our engineers design unique and challengingprojects, andperform investigations to make expert recommendations to clients for various purposes.Activities include site investigations, structuralengineeringand drafting for both front end planning and the detailed engineering phase for multi-discipline projects.

As aMid-LevelStructuralEngineeryou willhave Discipline Lead responsibilities aspartofmulti-discipline project teams.As the Engineer you willbe responsible forleading a team of engineers and designers todevelop and design the structuralportionof projects, make design recommendations and decisions, and oversee the completion and quality of construction drawings, specifications, reports, and other project documentation.

Responsibilities

Perform as project lead engineer for smallprojects andlarger projects with little oversight, managing the production effort of staff assigned to the project in terms of quality, budget, and schedule, overseeing the work throughoutvarious project stages - from conceptual, feasibility, and detailed design through construction.

Assistasrequiredin the preparation of proposals and marketing materials through definitionandwrite-ups of project scope and activitieson past projects.

Establish projectscope, structural budgets, anddesign approach.

Meet with client personnel toassistin preliminary planning andidentifyingdesign concepts.

Work with clients and professional counterparts to ensure projects are deliveredon-time, within budget, meeting, and/or exceeding client expectations.

Responsiblefor the design of structural systems and components for a variety ofcommercialand industrial facility types; ensuring the designs conform to recognized codes and standards, as well as client requirements.

Duties will include structural engineering, structural details, analysis and design, and writing technical and study reports.

Participate in planning, designing, or reviewing plans, working closely with mechanical, process, electrical, architectural, and civil disciplines to deliver successful projects.

Visits to project sites to collect data andto observeconstruction progress.

Qualifications

Minimum5years of experience in Structural Engineering

Knowledge of steel, concrete, timberdesignand familiarity with applicable codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, etc.).

Preferred software knowledge and requirements include Revit,BIM,AutoCAD,RISA3D,Navisworks,Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.

Excellentinterpersonal,writtenand verbal communication skills necessaryin order toeffectively communicate with clients and employees, virtually and in-person, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Strong organizational, analytical and time management skills withhighlevel of attention to detail and self-motivated to be successful.

Ability toidentifyandestablishwork priorities, setting deadlines, while balancing multiple projects.

Must be adaptable, able to problem solveand work under tight deadlines, and able to learn and applynew technologieswith minimal support.

Mustpossessworking knowledge of current industry codes andstandards, andhave experience with the latest engineering analysis software and techniques.

Ability tomaintainand develop relationships with both existing and potential clients and recognize their needs, respondtoand build on responsibilities accordingly.

PEispreferred,or the ability to obtain within one year of employment.
