What you will do:
Johnson Controls (JCI) invites you to apply for a one or two-Term Semester-Based Co-op Program located in Madison, WI. This co-op job is designed to provide you with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives. This role will be part of our Madison Branch where you can gain experience in Controls Systems Engineering, Controls Installation, System Commissioning.


How you will do it:

  • Work with experienced technicians, project managers, and engineers to specify, install, and commission new construction projects

  • Learn about HVAC systems both in the office and building construction/renovation sites

  • Provide modifications to standard JCI designs to meet job specifications

  • Read control drawings and design blueprints/specifications

  • Read and write software code

  • Learn how to install, inspect, commission, and troubleshoot systems

  • Generate controls and equipment submittals and request approval

What we look for
Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Construction, Electrical or Computer Engineering

  • Attending school in the greater Madison area and available to work full-time for 40 hours/week during the summer break and part-time during school semesters

  • Strong technical proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft products

  • Must be highly organized and must be a good communicator

  • U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.

  • Must embrace change and handle shifts in direction

  • Strong work initiative with the persistence to match

  • Must be highly motivated and driven

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of computer networking

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a highly dynamic environment

  • Dedication to teamwork

  • The ideal candidate currently has a minimum of one semester remaining in BAS curriculum or is sophomore or junior in a 4-year degree


HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $21-24/hour (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge,skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
