Job description

Department Overview
OHSU is Oregon's only public academic health center. We are a system of hospitals and clinics across Oregon and southwest Washington. We are an institution of higher learning, with schools of medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry and public health - and with a network of campuses and partners throughout Oregon. As the Informatics Supervisor, Pharmacy Services you will be expected to develop, enhance, implement, and provide direction for their informatics pharmacy service and initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, employee supervision, education and training of staff, residents, interns and students, provide leadership and service line development, involvement in quality assessment and process improvement, and serve as a clinical role model. In addition, they will staff their service area in order to maintain their clinical expertise.
Function/Duties of Position
Process/Service Monitoring:
  • Determines, coordinates/delegates, and schedules appropriate assignment of staff to meet workload demands, assuring adequate resources are available. Maintains practice standards, compliance,and accreditation standards and applicable laws and regulations. Informatics responsibility encompasses oncology, ambulatory infusion, investigational and retail information systems and technology.
Supervision of Staff:
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and supervises assigned staff, develops performance standards, conducts performance appraisals (PE); and recommends salary increases consistent with Hospital policy and procedures.
Program Design & Development:
  • Development of programs, strategies, facilities and systems for service improvement or expansion in informatics and quality services.
Process Improvement:
  • Develops new and improved services within University Hospital through constant evaluation and innovation. Continuously improving services to meet patient and provider needs.
Departmental Interdisciplinary Coordination:
  • Coordinates services in assigned areas with other Pharmacy areas, nursing areas, other Hospital departments, and external agencies to facilitate continuity of care.
Teaching:
  • Coordinates the education and training of pharmacy students and residents as applicable. Direct the work of students/residents and monitors and evaluates their performance. This position is expected to participate in lecturing, teaching, and research related to their service line.
Required Qualifications
  • Pharm.D. or BS in Pharmacy with equivalent experience
  • 3 years of Pharmacist experience.
  • Pharmacist Licensure in the State of Oregon (required at start of position)
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of experience as an informatics pharmacist or as a pharmacy manager in a hospital setting Masters or Pharmacy Residency University hospital experience.
  • Publications in peer reviewed journals or presentations at state or national pharmacy conference. 2 years of precepting and lecturing experience or ACPE accredited teaching certificate.
  • Certification or Fellowship in specialty area, if available

Additional Details
The employee will spend a significant amount of time at a computer terminal. The position must deal with situations on a daily basis with a high degree of intensity. In addition, within the health care setting there can be significant lack of control over the work pace, with frequent interruptions (work is often dictated by external factors) that may lead to mental fatigue or stress.
